Japanese Warship Kaga is becoming an aircraft carrier

the world cannot forgot the atrocities japanese imperial army committed till their defeat in second world war... they are still very nationalistic and dont accept foreignters and will exhibit same behavior as they did during imperial days. my 2 cents.
Most country literally doesn't give a crap anymore about japanese atrocities. Even the South korean are thinking about closer defense cooperation against the chinese menace.

Here is why criticizing the F-35 combat radius is stupid...

Can you make a fighter with greater range? Yes, but there will be compromises such as a larger platform to carry more fuel, less payload, less fighters on the carrier, and so on. Now, take that F-35A circle and put it on an aircraft carrier and move the B model around, then add air refueling into the mix. That is what the base F-35 model was designed for. If your country do not have an aircraft carrier, the base A model is still well suited for your air doctrines. Not only that, because the base A model is an international platform, your air force can more easily integrated into other air forces when the need arises. Take that F-35A combat radius circle and put it all over Europe. Each circle can overlap another for redundant combat coverage, or in series to create a wall of deterrence.

Now cope, people...

Dude, you don't even know that the deck length you need for the launch zone is the length of the catapult, and the Ski Jump needs far longer than the length of the catapult?
The reason why the Ford class is longer is to be able to operate more aircraft on the deck at the same time, rather than the need for a single aircraft to take off and land so length.View attachment 924067

Ski Jump requires action at the end of the yellow line

Ummm... again, unless China is shit at making ski jump,. Ski Jump is SHORTER than any catapult

The Cat on Nimitz is 325 ft in length, the runoff is 306 ft according to Wikipedia

The EMALS on Ford is slightly shorter, at 300 ft.

Power electronics offers new approach

The Navy's EMALS (Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System) represents a radically new approach to the launch problem. Although based on the LIM, which is a well-established technology, this application requires enormous impulse power and energy, unlike other LIM applications (Table 1). The complete EMALS system will use a 300-ft long LIM to accelerate a 100,000-lb (45,000-kg) aircraft to more than 130 knots (67m/sec) and lighter aircraft to 200 knots (100m/sec)

The Ski jump ramp on QE is exactly 200 ft.

Also, it was the angled deck, that make it able to launch more aircraft (4 instead of 2) not the length.

So no. You are Wrong

No, it's your fault. Because the QE uses the short takeoff and landing F-35B, not the carrier-based F-35C that normally takes off and lands on the Ford.
The price paid for this is that when the load is 1 ton, the combat radius is only two-thirds of the F-35C with a load of 2 tons.

LOL, Ski Jump is SHORTER than any catapult??
How short is the Ski Jump of the MiG 29 in India carrier?? ?

F-35 still enjoy the highest crash rate among 5 gen jets and if a war broke out around taiwan strait, aircraft carriers are just useless, it'll all boil down to who has the overall dominant fire power and logistic supply. US weapon inventory can not even support Ukraine for long, what make people believe Taiwan's can?

US made it possible for Ukraine to drag out that 'special' military operation for over one yr, so what qualifies as 'for long' to you? At best, China still needs 3-5 yrs away from being able to invade Taiwan, so what do you think the US can do in that time?

Taiwan is not Ukraine, it's small island which can be easily blocked, besides, Taiwan still has many pro unification people, which can help the mainland from inside. we are all Chinese and we know what they think and their capabilities. Do you why know with full US financial and military support, KMT still lost to the communists in merely 3 years and fled to Taiwan?

Are you for real?? Why not pick the end of the ship at number 4 spot while you are at it?

You can take off using that spot (in fact you can take off using any spot on a ship, but that is NOT the shortest spot for take off) You count the length of a ski jump from the beginning of the platform til the end of that platform, not the entire run off area, because run off area is different between different spot, you can literally take off from next to the island or at the end of the ship.

CVN 70.jpg

Those line is for aircraft to be on station to hide from the blast to basically queue up, you don't launch aircraft from the end of the dotted line. (You can but not a must) CVN-70 have those at the rear of those ships too, that does not mean the run off is from the red circle to the edge of the ship

This is an actual video of Mig-29K takes off from INS Vikramaditya

Notice that the aircraft launch from next to number 2 spot next to the island (the circle with a 2 on it ) This is corresponded to the red square on this picture of INS Vikramaditya

Aircraft-Carrier-INS-Vikramaditya-02-Indian-Navy.jpg

Which is roughly 1/4 to 1/3 of the entire length of the deck, seeing INS Vikramaditya only 900 ft long, the runoff cannot be more than 300 ft in length. While the cat on Nimitz is 326 ft long Your mark is 150-200 ft off.

you clearly did not followed the news in SK, the Korean were raging about it, it is definitely doing more harm than good...

Do we know, how this vessel and esp. its deck geometry will look like (from above) when done?
