Japanese team meets Shahbaz

LAHORE - A Japanese delegation associated with agriculture sector led by Vice Chairman JA Japan President Kyoto Prefecture Union of Agriculture Cooperatives, Yasuhiro Nakagawa, met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here Wednesday.
Matters regarding cooperation in agriculture and livestock sectors were discussed in the meeting.
Provincial Agriculture Minister, Ahmad Ali Olakh, Chairman P&D, Secretaries Agriculture and Livestock, Chief Executive Punjab Livestock & Dairy Development Board and CEO Punjab Investment Board and Pakistan’s Economic Minister in Japan Iftikhar Babar were also present on the occasion. The CM said that Japanese were a bold, honest and hard working nation and made rapid progress by their courage and determination.
He said that Japan had always stood-by Pakistan in the hour of need and the generous help and assistance extended by the govt and the people of Japan to flood affectees was highly commendable.
He said the comments of the leader of the delegation were highly encouraging that the impression abroad about law and order situation in Pakistan, is totally contrary to facts. He said that Pakistan had security problems but the government was utilizing all available resources for the maintenance of peace. He said that though it was difficult but not impossible and the Pakistani nation would be able to overcome its problems with courage, determination and unity.
He said that Japan had made remarkable progress in agriculture as well as other sectors by adopting modern technology and he fully agrees that Pakistan can also double its agri production by adopting latest technology. He said that Punjab government would welcome cooperation for the uplift of agriculture sector and encourage solid steps in this regard.
Leader of the delegation, Yasuhiro Nakagawa said he was told before his visit to Pakistan that it was dangerous country but its impression had totally changed after arriving in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan was a peaceful country and its people were loving. He said that he was deeply impressed with the irrigation system in Punjab and the province could double its agri production by benefiting from Japanese technology.
He said that he would soon evolve a strategy with regard to cooperation in agri-sector and finalize it in the light of his negotiations with the concerned authorities of Punjab government.
He also invited Chief Minister Punjab to visit Japan.
