Yeah. I think Japanese are getting some good help from Lockheed Martin (being bonhomies with US and all that) which is not shown to the public. Word has it that their F-X program similar to our MRCA has been postponed due to delays in F-35's timeline.

I think in the next decade, they'd be a lethal air force with this ShinShin (Japanese are capable of building jaw-dropping stuff) and F-35 that'd manage their entire aerial battle system.

If it were not for that stupid clause in their constitution of not using military, I think Japan is a pretty powerful country even today. Cutting edge scientific capability, excellent infrastructure, powerful economy, excellent social order, immense wealth, national dedication... they have it all to make it to a superpower list (other than that silly clause).

I second that. I used to live in japan and i always loved the Japanese people and thier work-ethic and how clean anf hygenic they are!! But when i saw the SF photos only one word comes to mind- BONZAI!!!!!
