F-35 fighter jet crash confirmed as £77m wreckage recovered – but pilot MISSING

THE PILOT of a F-35 fighter jet is missing after the wreckage of the £77million jet was recovered following a crash.

The Japanese stealth fighter jet was found a day after it vanished from radar over the Pacific Ocean.

But the pilot is still missing, Japanese military says.

The aircraft was less than a year old when it crashed, and is only the second F-35 to do so in the two decades it has been flying.

It had only been in the air for 28 minutes before the crash on Tuesday, Japanese officials said.

An Air Self Defence Force spokesman said: "We recovered the wreckage and determined it was from the F-35."

The single-seater jet was flying 84 miles east of the Misawa air base in Aomori Prefecture at around 10.27pm GMT when it went missing.

I thought someone brag how advance these plane manage to evade radar and gone on to make a mock intrusion into neighboring to test water. End up it really tested the water but its a one way ticket.

But 77 million pound per plane is cheap. Rafale cost more and they dont offer the kind of stealth F-35 has.

Anyway, this is exactly why Turkey is not fazed by US threats to withhold F-35 if they follow through with the S-400 deal. Because the F-35 is a flying hunk of garbage only suited for suicide missions.

Accidents happen even with the best of machines - nothing is infallible.

F-35 platform have extraordinary flight record - very low incidents.

This incident could be due to pilot error.
