Japan to have first aircraft carriers since World War II

Which mountain of money do you mean? In fact Japanese government has huge debt!

If we talk about military budget, then it is under Government's budget. If you inflate military budget means you have to reduce other allocated budget such as: education, R&D, social benefits/safety, infrastructure, government official salary, etc. Japanese people will cry and be angry toward their government if their government reduce those budget allocations for the sake inflating military budget

If you talk about foreign exchange that Japanese govt lend to US or purchase US'gov bond when you refer "mountain of money", then the use of the huge amount of foreign exchange by selling US gov bond will make Yen free fall alongwith huge mounting Japanese government debt.

That if you understand macro economic :enjoy:
Ok true, Japan has huge debts but those bonds are mostly held by private Japanese citizens or cooperations. Japan has little foreign debts. Japan’s private wealth is about 4 trillion USD, I believe. Japanese companies have over 1 trillion USD in oversea investments. Ok not to mention the 1 trillion US bonds.

The Yen is international reserves currency. The BoJ can print as much as money as it wants, without risking the crash of the Yen. People have trust to the Yen.

Ok Talking on Macro economic

Hei @Suika. I read a news about Japanese old People actually are tended by the government with Japanese Young money. Won't it burden Japanese Young more? Without that tax, Japanese Young can save money to marry, have children, etc. But if burdened by that payment, then won't it restrict them financially in many way?

What do you think about that?

Poland have the same policy, and their young prefer to leave the country and live else where. I know this, because I have a Poland friend who left his country to other place because he dislike that policy.

I've heard of anecdotes from other people that some young Japanese told them they are trying to move out. They feel it's unfair that the older generation enjoyed the economic boom and now as they retire, the younger generation with a malaise economy have to support them. And when it's their turn to retire, their pensions will definitely be lesser than what they have paid.

Tokyo trains can only cram in so many people.

Japan isn't just Tokyo though, many other areas are emptying. The problem here is Tokyo sucking in people from all over Japan.

@Suika are you sure you are not that Nihonjin guy? Because if you are... I'll ask the Japanese Imperial Navy... errr Japan Maritime Self Defense Force to Kamikaze your *** back to the stone age! And you haven't answered my question yet!!! Whats wrong with you man!??!

Japan isn't invading China again. PLA Army is way too big and Japanese nationalism for war is not nearly high enough.

Chinese posters here have shown a lot of restraint to the claims that Japan can invade again. Credit to them.

Well, if it is about Izumo Class with 10 F35B, it is reachable for Japan. As long as they raise their military spending. Izumo is way smaller than Liaoning, and it can only take 10 F-35B. I don't know which is better, an Izumo with helicopter for ASW mission, or an Izumo with 10 F-35B for Aircraft Carrier mission.

@jhungary, what do you think about this? Which is better for Izumo? An Izumo with ASW Mission helicopter, or an Izumo with 10 F-35B for aircraft carrier mission. Can the F-35B replace the function of ASW heli that it replace? Does 10 F-35B is effective enough for their Aircraft Carrier mission? Well, although I like trolling with you, but this is a serious question :) and on topic with this thread too. It is better for more technical discussion like this than talk about "Japanese Slaver enslave Vietnam" Troll post.

Japan have a defence budget of about 60 billions, at 0.98% of GDP, as I stated before, Japan could easily afford 120 billions budget which would make the % scale at 1.9% on GDP.

On the other hand, yes Izumo class may not be well suited for Light Carrier Operation, they are probably working on a 50:50 split which mean once they were modified, they are to use as interdiction operation. What that means is that they would retain 50% helicopter (scout and ASW) and 50% fighter flying CAP.

While there's that, also we should not be forgetting that Izumo Class is, again, overpriced. At 1.2 billions each, a similar sea control/interdiction ship cost anywhere from 500 to 800 millions. And even with WASP Class, a Sea Control Light Carrier, it's only comes with a price tag of $1.5 billions each, and it could carry 20 fighters.

And as I said, Japan plans to acquire 42 F-35B, which would mean after outfitting them on both Izumo Class, they would still have 22 spare to go, which is a tradition Sea Control complement of a Wasp/America class Carrier.

Conventional wisdom would suggest that gap would see Japan either commissioning another 2 Izumo, which is not likely, or they are building a new 45000 ton class ship to outfit with the remaining F-35B they plan to order and then use the new ship as a fleet flag ship (which is similar to US Expedition squadron). And in this case, depends on foreign investment, I am pretty sure US would more than gladly to help out with Design a Wasp/America class ship for Japan and if Japan have budgeted well on this, they can probably build a Wasp Class type ship with Izumo Budget.

And finally, Abe is closing in on repealing Article 9 in the Japanese Constitution in 2020, which means 3 things will happen

1.) Japan will recognize its national armed force
2.) The Offensive Weapon ban will be abolished
3.) The Cap for Military Budget will be abolished

And they are now saying they wanted to convert the 2 Izumo into Aircraft Carrier? You do the maths.

The Izumo class was designed with the option of being able to get modified to use aircraft like the F-35B as a plan B. Had various geopolitical things had not come to past such as the Chinese creation of airbases in the south china sea or North Korean ICBM test launches flying over Japan or into Japanese EEZ waters, then the Abe government wouldn't have the public support to implement military measures such as modifying the Izumo class.

At any rate, the new mid term defense plan states that the Izumo-class will remain as a multi-purpose ship for carrying out roles such as disaster relief and such. So its nothing like a full time carrier wing. If 12 F-35Bs get loaded on, then there's no room for the helicopters to conduct other roles such as ASW, etc.

The JMSDF has 4 helicopter destroyers total... Izumo, Kaga, Ise, and Hyuga. And the JMSDF is structured with four main fleets. So each fleet is centered around a single helicopter destroyer. That means that whenever either Izumo or Kaga are loaded with F-35Bs, then the helicopter destroyer for that fleet is unable to conduct the roles it would have been able to do had it been loaded with helicopters instead, such as ASW or disaster relief. But in any event, the option to deploy F-35Bs onboard will be handy.

A. So basically you said that Vietnam copy what China is doing in developing their military? Ok, case close.
But, I still don't believe that Vietnam can stand against a Japanese Invasion. Specially with their lucky number Aircraft Carriers. Plus, you have been ensnared by them. Do you think that you still have a chance now?

B. Japan just rich, like China. They are not mega rich, overshadowing everybody else. But they have a mountain of debt too. So it's hard to believe that Japanese will prefer to raise their military spending. Because economy development and public welfare is more important than 10 Aircraft Carriers.
No. I am saying the only way Vietnam can beat China is learning their ways of thinking. You can say we copy China.

Japan has no reason nor motive of invasion of Vietnam. The last time Japan invaded Vietnam (back then Indochina) because the Japanese wanted to stop weapons and food supplies into China via Vietnam.

Without deliveries by Vietnam, China wouldn’t sustain a long fight against Japanese onslaughts

Lol. It took u guys this long to figure out? I knew from day1 this Suika guy is Nihonjin. The reason I didn't report him coz I have him on my ignore list, plus its rather amusing reading the replies to his outrageous posts which obviously I cannot read since he's ignored.

But didn't you said that Japan will conquer their neighbor to find slaves? LOL. Vietnam is a juicy target for their slavery mission. Why? Simply because it is not profitable for a Slaver to fight a big country like China. Even if they get new slaves, it will costly for them. But Vietnam, it is different matter. You have been inside their TPP enslavement trap, and you trust them. So, it is easier to attack and enslave your country than to enslave China. Getting new Slaves are economic matter, not ideological, nor pride. So why would they sacrifice their Lucky Number Aircraft Carriers to get "new merchandise"? When at the same time there is an alternative that readily to be harvested :D

This trolling banter has become old and pointless, let's us stop here :)

Hello, Indonesia kid. Are u ashame as Indonesia that you need to imposter as Japanese? :enjoy:

Trying to wench grudge between Chinese and Japanese?

If it were up to me (which it's obviously not) Japan would have at least several nimitz-class carrier battle groups.

@waz. @Horus : It seems that there is a witch hunting phenomenon here about whatever a Japanese poster is actually Nihonjin or not. I think Mod should interfere here. If @Suika is not Nihonjin, then Mod should clarify this, as he can become a victim of accusation by the others. But if he's really Nihonjin, then Mod should do something to it too. Even if Nihonjin is a clone and false flagger, but he still has the right to post here in PDF. It is better if everyone know that someone is Nihonjin; or who is the real him in this forum to avoid future "Witch Hunting Phenomenon" to Japanese Posters in PDF.

After all, Japanese posters have the right to post here, like the others, and not to be accused by something that they're not. @Suika can be a victim here, although he can also be Nihonjin with new identity.

This Nihonjin poster has really left a mark. I've been asked if I'm him many times. But I'm not him.

That's because Nihonjin left with the greatest mystery in this forum :) So many people pointed finger of who is the real him in this forum. If you're not Nihonjin, then you're the victim of a "Witch Hunting Phenomenon". So please be patient :)
