Japan Rises for Chinese in Travel Survey

Jacky Cheung was the best man. 吻別 -- pierces the heart.
Hahaha by the time you were listening to his songs i already stopped for some years and it was my classmate who introduced me to j-pop in 97. Jacky Cheung and Andy Lau were among my favorite Canto pop singers in the early 90s and i like their mandarin songs as well.

@AgentOrange
Never tried jiu niang before, looks interesting. It looks almost like tong yuen

It's got tang yuan in it but the soup is distinctly different. Actually the tang yuan is optional. And the soup/drink itself is served warm. Oh man it's good. Haven't had any in over a decade, I don't know how to make it, and restaurants don't serve it. It's a distinctly Chinese dessert and it's unique cuz our culture isn't exactly known for desserts.

Bro, where are your ancestors from, originally? I'm guessing you're Hakka or Cantonese ?

They also are "obsessed" using journey to the west theme in their anime hahaha

So what music do you listen? :)
i listen to some of those, just never know it's called C-pop....my span is quite wide actually..it stretched from classical chinese to world music to western pop to chinese pop...and sometimes opera...never fixed in one type or one musician....

Hahaha oh man. When I was in high school (2000-2004), i was super obsessed about Chinese pop music, you know, the romance ballads. Singers like Jacky Cheung, Alex To, Coco Lee, Zhang Hanyun et al. Are they even popular nowadays? lol. Maybe the younger generation don't even listen to them anymore-- hahaha!
well, they are still around, probably not as popular.... Jacky Cheung is the godfather like figure in C-pop(still feel wired..), he is definitely still very popular. others....dont know much....my c-pop era was more about Jay Chou and those older taiwan singers. HK school was not really my thing, though i did listen to those them occasionally...
ah... the good old days when we were still into pop....

So beautiful and sad.

Have you had a chance to listen to 帕尔哈提 who showed up in Voice of China?

He sings great love and rock ballads, as well.

Thank for the link, buddy, this is the first time i've heard of him...really loving the lyrics. :smitten:

He has a handsome voice, man. Very folk-esque...

. . . . . .
I do know Alex To was also a singer in the 80s but i hardly listened to his songs haha, i don't think HK people consider him as one of the godfathers. In my view he was never that popular in HK, later he disappeared from the scenes and moved to Taiwan to continue his career as a singer. I think he returns back to Mainland/HK from time to time. He also got married not too long ago.

Yea, Roman Tam was popular in Japan. RIP to him, jeez, it seems just like yesterday, but its been almost 13 years...
Yeah same with Leslie, sad ending for him too. Aside these two Anita Mui also passed away almost as long as those 2 singers. Anita Mui was the Queen of Cantopop

There are two types of Japanese tourists coming to China: a) Older people (pension folks) and b) young generation.

Then who's left otherwise! Haha.. The young and the old , they are the only ones who can travel by themselves :)
BTW if there are 10, 15 more guys like you @Nihonjin1051, they will certainly brainwash Chinese into liking Japanese into brotherhood and all. LOL (No offence to either side)

In Asian subcontinent, it is much easier to travel to Europe, US than say Japan, China and other 'oriental' nations. Its just so different. Even in our college, study tours/options were only limited to Hongkong while Germany, Netherlands and other western and european nations were a relatively easier options.

I so want to visit Japan, just don't know what i'l do there ! hehe
