Japan Preparing for Lunar New Year 2016 (February 8) !!

I was born in the year of the Dragon and the Rabbit month.

Dragon Born have the following attributes:

Those born under the sign of the Dragon truly come to embody that fantastical creature, living their lives in the extremities of good and bad. As such, they are prone to experience great growth and crushing tragedy at numerous points throughout their life. As trying as these intense periods can be for them, however, it also provides Dragons with an enlightened view of the world and the way that everything works. Which in turn transforms a Dragon into a being of strong morals and justice, unable to endure deceit but also incapable of avoiding the deceit of others.

As a result, Dragons can struggle for periods of their lives with a loss of faith. Questioning what their purpose is, they sometime must wander for a while and endure trials to rediscover their being. By the end of it all, however, a Dragon remains strong and will be able to survive whatever life throws its way. In light of all their struggles, however, Dragons are also blessed with the greatest capacity for love of all the twelve signs. A blessing which allows them to accomplish great deeds as a member of a team, and to share their lives with friends and family alike.

I was born in the year of the Ushi (Ox). :D

Some attributes of Ox Born:

ox-767x1024.gif

The Ox is a person who will often find themselves in the same place or situation for longer periods than others. Whether it is in a relationship, a job, or just a phase of their life, the Ox is built to both endure and succeed. Part of this is that they will tend to favor those things that they are already familiar with. This allows them to make the most of what they can do, and in many ways to eliminate the chaos from their own world that seems to control so many others.

As someone who holds out for what they want, the Ox is also someone for whom discipline is second nature. They can maintain a level of work and a state of mind far beyond many of their peers, both in their personal and professional lives. It can be hard, however, to endure sudden changes in their life, at least for the first few days. As the Ox slowly refocuses their mind, though, they will soon return to a more stable and happy state. It simply takes them a little longer than others to figure out what is the best path for them. Though once they do, they are strong and determined.

As someone who takes their time with change and must feel before they can act, the Ox is prone to follow the same sort of pattern in all of their relationships. They are quick to be friendly with others, but slow to transition into a deeper relationship. Some signs struggle as a result of this to get to know the Ox, though it is never impossible to break through that initial barrier. For those born under the sign of the Ox care feel for others with great force. Should if a partner can be patient and allow an Ox the time they need to adjust, the end result will be a relationship that will stand up to all the tests of time.

While the Ox is slow to let others in, it is because they look to protect those that surround them. This makes them wonderful friends but difficult acquaintances, as the transition from one to the other is not as fluid as it may be with other people. Once a person takes the time to know an Ox, however, they will quickly find them a firm foundation on which to build a lasting relationship. For they are not there to judge one way or another, but simply to support, sustain, and find comfort in the company of their friends and family.

I don't know if that's true tho, ha ha ha ! :D:angel:

"Dragonborn" is more known for Fus Ro Dah!

Most of us geeks have spent many hours shouting at tables laden with dinnerwares as the dragonborn.

This doesn't sound like me considering I was born in 1988... a dragon year if I recall.

some personality aspects of Dragons:

They are usually a group of people who are lively, intellectual and excitable. They can clearly tell right from wrong. They are upright and frank. However, they are also a bit arrogant and impatient. Female Dragons tend to be overly confident. They hate hypocrisy, gossip and slander. They are not afraid of difficulties but hate to be used or controlled by others.

  • Strengths
Decisive, inspiring, magnanimous, sensitive, ambitious, romantic
  • Weaknesses
    Eccentric, tactless, fiery, intolerant, unrealistic

do you find yourself having these attributes, @Cossack25A1 ? i think so.. lol

In the "strengths" part, almost all attributes I have are the opposite.

For the "weaknesses" part, most (if not all) are right; I have those attributes.

are you born closer to 1987, or 1989? if so, then you need to look at some attributes of the rabbit and snake.

I was born around in May of 1988... not sure if it is close to 1987.

You would have perhaps some overlapping attributes of the rabbit.

Rabbits tend to be gentle, quiet, elegant, and alert; quick, skillful, kind, and patient; and particularly responsible. However, they might be superficial, stubborn, melancholy, and overly-discreet. Generally speaking, people who belong to the Rabbit zodiac sign have likable characters.

Gentlemen who belong to the rabbit zodiac sign always treat people politely, with a gentle smile that makes people feel that they are credible and sincere. When meeting trouble, Rabbits can handle it in an orderly way; when encountering tough difficulties they are never discouraged, but are persistent to seek solutions. So they eventually achieve enviable success.

Ladies belonging to the rabbit zodiac sign, apart from a pretty and demure appearance, have a pure heart.

Rabbits are faithful to those around them, but reluctant to reveal their minds to others, and have a tendency to escape reality. They are too cautious and conservative, which means they miss good opportunities.

@Nihonjin1051 and our my fellows Chinese brothers, what you think that we should all drop the call such "Chinese new year". Japanese new year, Korean new year and Vietnamese new years but make universal one for all north east Asians,
I never heard Western people call "American christmas" or French Christmas.

But the way in which different populations celebrate it is different and each contains different cultural elements, so it might not convey the nuances between the cultures if you replace it with a catchall term like "East Asian" or "Lunar".

Plus I don't really like the idea of taking away the Chineseness. It originated in China, it was our ancestral forefathers who created this tradition and they should be accredited it with the creation of this tradition. Like if you're a non-Chinese Asian and hate the fact it is called Chinese New Year, nobody is forcing you to celebrate it, and it's not like it was your forefathers who created the tradition anyway so I don't understand why you feel the need to be so attached to something which is not natively yours in origins.

Yes, you have a deep and credible point, wolfwind, it is inherently a Chinese creation, and it merely added regional attributes in Korea, Japan , and Vietnam. However, it is indeed a Chinese origin festivity, from which disseminated into Greater East Asia. Even if the tradition has been incorporated into korea japanese life, both nations do attribute it to China.Even the regalia used in Korea and Japan -- worn during the event -- has very strong Chinese appearance.

That, no one can deny.

Chineseeness is really matter? when people celebrate North East Aisan new year, it's not hard for them to trace back where this celebration originate..by mentioning "Chinese new year" it gave impression that is exclusive to Chinese people only but that fact is Korean, Japan and Vietnam celebrate that since ancient time.

It's my personal opinion ,we don't have to add national element into this celebration day, and as I point out about Chirstmas, when People celebrate it, do they don't care which country it originate from, they just want to be happy. We can do the same
