Japan PM candidate Takaichi backs doubling defense budget to 2% GDP [ $100B Defense Budget]

Japan military is a joke. Their crown jewel are these pretend aircraft carriers. China showed them their crown jewel worth only 6 months of effort in the ship yard. Their inferiority complex got a hold of them, now throwing a tantrum by practicing mobilizing troops across Japan.

then you have no knowledge of military or naval affairs

JMSDF is one of the Worlds Top Tier Navys with warships to match

a proud and rich history full of naval tradition

hopefully all the anti-Japanese think like this so they can be caught off guard when shooting starts

Anglo Empire 1.0 = Anglo Empire 2.0
France = Japan
Russia = Australia

Austria = 0

The incomprehensible thing about this remake of the old movie is the audacity of Japan and the madness of Australia

The PRC should give up claim on Taiwan and make compromise with the 9 dash line.
Yes, ask Taiwan to give up claim for diaoyutai too and ask what is their response.

japan has a very unbalanced navy. it was built entirely around supporting US forces. its good at ASW, meant to block in the soviet navies. it has decent anti-air, again to take out some of the soviet bombers in the event of ww3.

it has practically no power projection and only recently acquired those "helicopter destroyers". its naval air force is basically all helicopters and anti-sub planes.

This is a fine force makeup for them of course, since they expect to be supporting the US in any war they might fight.

but alone it plays defence only.

Australia & Japan will join NATO, I feel like it’s inevitable at this point.

NATO is on its way out, albeit slowly. If there's a Pacific-oriented defense grouping, it would be something brand new. The demise of NATO would free up US resources to focus on China. Now the US withdrawal of Afghanistan can be seen from a proper perspective as well.

there will be ridiculous arms race in this next 2 decades and ending in the 3 decade with the outbreak of the great war aka WW3

lol more like ridiculous economy collapse in next 2 decades... A failed Olympic game, a sky high debt, a shrinking population and a out control pandemic.

Japan recorded a Government Debt to GDP of 266.20 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product in 2020.

Industrial power wise, China is roughly equal to the US pre-WW2, not germany.

Taipei, Sept. 20 (CNA) Presidential Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) has expressed the hope that Taiwan and Japan will cooperate more closely in the future in a conversation with Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) lawmaker Sanae Takaichi, who is vying to become her country's first female prime minister.

In a video conference Monday, Tsai said mutual assistance between Taiwan and Japan is critical to regional stability, and she hoped for closer bilateral cooperation in several areas including regional security, economic development, and the global supply chain.

Takaichi, a hardline conservative in Japan's parliament, has declared her candidacy in the ruling LDP's Sept. 29 election for party president that will determine the country's next prime minister.

Takaichi has been described in a story by the Japan Times as "a favorite of conservatives with hawkish views on defense and diplomacy."

Tsai also thanked Takaichi for Japan's donation of COVID-19 vaccines to help ease Taiwan's shortage of the jabs, according to a statement by Tsai's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on the 30-minute talk.

Takaichi tweeted that she had a virtual dialogue with "Chairperson Tsai Ing-wen" on Monday evening, which proceeded smoothly with the help of translators. Tsai is the head of the DPP.

Echoing Tsai, the Japanese lawmaker said she was eager to hold the meeting to discuss how to deepen security and expand pragmatic exchanges between Japan and Taiwan.

On her twitter page, Takaichi showed a picture of the Japan and Taiwan flags hanging on the wall of the venue where she had the online meeting with Tsai.

She said she expected the entire conversation to be posted on Youtube later in the day.

Japan donated more than 3.4 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Taiwan between June 4 and Sept. 7 and pledged to donate an additional 500,000 doses on Sept. 14.

It has donated more vaccine doses to Taiwan than any other country.

The US population may one day think that it was not necessary to push towards unconditional surrender during WW2. And that saving the KMT and CCP also was not a necessary thing to do from the war Japan. Maybe some day the US population will think what if they had just recognized Manchukuo instead of siding with the KMT. Maybe some day..

US needs NATO. Japan, India and Australia will only confront China if they are attacked head on.

Biden would ideally like to orient NATO towards China and make Russia a secondary target. But the EU countries are not inclined to make an enemy out of China. While, EU sanctions China for human rights violations - it also tries to renegotiate the stalled trade deal with Chinese government. Biden has a tough task ahead and he off to the worst possible start. :undecided:

American Propaganda. American real contribution of WWII is not as big as you guys boasts every day. American saved nobody. It was just eager to take Japan and England interests in Asia.
Japan economy had collapsed due to the war in China. More than half of Japanese factories turn into weapons production. They don't creat any added values to the nation. Their food were sent to China to feed army. Their people were hungry all day. Japanese people revolution was just a thing sooner or later if America didn't stole the victory. China could defeat Japan without any an American.
