Japan plans to remilitarize at lightning speed

You forget the events that led to the war 1979 VN/CN. That’s a cumulation of many things. Such events will never repeat. Vietnam fought on multiple fronts, with multiple enemies, the Japanese, the French, the US, the US coalition led by South Korea, then the civil war north/south, the war against Cambodia initiated by Red Khmer. On top the breakup China with USSR which forced VN to choose side.

Historically Vietnam always recognize China as the top dog in Asia.
Thats what I am saying all along that Vietnam at least shouldnt had ever choosen side between China and Soviet split just as the North Korea stayed neutral, then all things worked out fine for North Korea, it was and is in good terms with both China and Soviet/Russia.

The problem was North Vietnam was upset with China and US rapproachment in the early 70s. NV thought China was colluding with the US against Vietnam. But, the truth was not, NV just couldnt understand that China has other urgent concerns to deal with the US such as to relax the China US tension somewhat so China could focus to deal with the imminent threat of the Soviets that had one million men superior army stationed along its border with China at the time. You can tell that Chinese weaponary and material support to NV in the 70s remained steady and increasing even as China and US rapproachment occured.

Vietnam just had to understand that it was and is not in Chinas national interest to have a superpower army of hundreds of thousands men stationed and fighting in its neighbour country like Vietnam. More than anything, China wanted American army gone from Vietnam just as it wants Americam military out of South Korea now.

No such thing as ancient powers returning. No such historical determinism. Just as ancient Egypt, Rome, or Ottoman Empire won't return, nor will ancient China. It is a country existing in modern times and, like all others, are subject to modern forces
Right now the centre of power for Eurasia is outside Eurasia, this is causing instability for Eurasian countries. You can see in the Middle East there is constant wars because America keeps on meddling with regional power dynamics playing one Muslim country off another. This will never settle as long as foreign hands are involved. Power needs to be balanced naturally in the region for there to be stability. The muslims, the Chinese, the Russian/central Asians, the modern inheritors of historic power centres need to rise for Eurasia to become the economic heart of the world again. These cultures are natives to the Eurasian landmass. Having a foreign power aka America dictate geo politics in the region is inherently disruptive. They do not care about the stability of the region, only what they can extract from it to keep themselves on top.

It was initially Japan that helped Asia kickstart. Then the four dragons joined. China is the tier three. Next will be Vietnam- led South East Asia+ India.

China was immensely critical economically especially during the 1997 financial crisis, acting as a very responsible power.

Japan has been instrumental in regional democratic development and good governance. Hence, except Mainland China and Korea, Japan's colonial and wartime policies have been left in distant memory in East Asia.
The problem is Japan is so small, they may be able to kick start it but they can never become the engine. You know why they wanted to invade China in the first place? They knew they could not compete without the resources and land that China has. Japan’s economy has maxed out at 1/3 China’s GDP and China is still growing. You need the size and Japan just doesn’t have it.

With the exception of uk nuclear submarines, Japan already has a better navy than the UK's Royal Navy. For example, they have nearly three times the number of surface combat ships. Given this, I am sightly surprised that they feel the need to increase the size of the Japanese Self-defence force navy.

Japan should develpp SSBN's as a means of deterrent.

To ensure other countries major cities would be destroyed if they're destroyed

Exactly the reason why I've added him to my ignore list lol. He sounds like an autistic kid ranting in every post hoping to get attention.
You are just a China hater white lackey, a jerk no doubt.

What is Japan going to do? Conquer China?
They already conquered your China back in the day. No point in conquering it again. :cheesy:

Because in the last 70 years Japan focused on industrious pursuits that allowed them be a world leader in tech and culture.
We focused our last 70 years on religion which allowed us to be a world leader in mullahism terrorism and hypocrisy.
Both societies are reaping the rewards of their investments.
hahahaha! you got the nail by the head!

I am not sure regional hegemony is preferable to global hegemony, from the perspective of medium and small powers. As it seems, in East Asia, majority do not want a regional hegemon, and prefer global hegemon. This is the reality today. I do not know how many central Asian country would love to see Russia as a hegemon. Same goes for China. The appeal is not just there. China came closer in the 90s and especially in the 2000s. But had lost it big time since 2013-4.

Hence, we are talking about Japan militarization.

Japan still has the know-how, industrial innovation and idea creation power. It also generates considerable soft power, regardless of it's size. And, it is seen in the region as a benign power.

Multipolar world instead of a unipolar dominated by one country. Regional powers working together to create balanced global relations. You’re literally making the argument why a one party dictatorship is better. If the global hegemon is doing a bad job, who is there to counter balance them? You believe they will step down out of the goodness of their own heart? In a multipolar world countries can balance each other, if one steps out of line they others can keep them in check. Many in the Middle East, South America and Africa do not like the Americans. The world is split into those who are robbed by them and those who are paid off by them. There are regions of the globe that are in constant conflict to feed the American empire and their cronies. The system is rigged against the global south and largely benefits former colonial powers. It’s a corrupt system and there is no fix for it because 1 country runs the show.

Japan still has the know-how, industrial innovation and idea creation power. It also generates considerable soft power, regardless of it's size. And, it is seen in the region as a benign power.
Japan has effectively been neutered by the Americans militarily and economically. People usually aren’t threatened by eunuchs. If one country can shut down your economy and military whenever they want, you not a driving power. You’re a tool wielded by those with actual power.

I don’t think that’s the reality. North Korea has a different scenario than North Vietnam. What has China vs USSR tension to do with Vietnam? Little to nothing. The idea Vietnam would launch attack on China with the Soviets support is fantasy. The reality is Vietnam interests don’t fit well into chinese interests. Vietnam endgame is expelling the US military and other foreign armies out of Vietnam and Indochina, uniting north and south, extermination of the hostile Cambodia led by Red Khmer, keeping Laos close to the mainland.

You believe Vietnam could achieve it with neutrality? Unrealistic.

Even if North Vietnam wanted equidistant to both China and USSR, the question is, if USSR would accept it.

There was no conflict with China that wanted to expell US military from South East Asia, and there was no problem with China on Vietnam got united North and South. But, there might be concerns on the Chinese side if Vietnam wanted to dominate the whole of Indo-China or South East Asia, which was seem as the unpredictable redraw of geopolitical map on large scale on south of China, China wouldnt be happy.

And pinkies said CCP are not interested in Vietnam at all.

@Viet I know a bunch of Mainland Chinese, who when we first met all said they don't know anything about Vietnam at all, the country that they have their last war with, yet pinky Chinese media talks and berates Vietnam day and night. Like little bitches. Good job on CCP and their horde of 50c little pinks though. Good brainwashing.

Idiot, as long as Vietnam doesnt threaten China, the interest is minimum among the population in general, like domination or invasion of South East Asia by Vietnam is a serous concern and threat to China.

Yeah maybe you should tell CCP to do the same, even though I know minions just follow order and have like no voice whatsoever.
