We were studying peaceful rise and actually thought it may be possible. Again, I believe, the fundamental reason is the ongoing fossilization of the political structure.

I used to believe it was rather evolutionary, but, this is obviously not the case.

Dont blame on China, the US and the West wont allow the peaceful rise to happan, as matter of fact, they even wont accept that China has the right to develop and grow its nation into the first rank of nations, the problem is these white Westerners think they own the world and indeed the whole universe. Japan is under USA's umbrella, an attack on Japan will be considered an attack on the US.
Taiwan doesn't enjoy the same protection and just has oral and material support mostly but still China hasn't declared war and occupied it per se. Your nation doesn't want to go to war with the US yet.

Its more like US not trying to go war with China. Why didnt US support Taiwan independent and openly recognized Taiwan as a country?

US may try to use Japan as a cheap stake to cause damage to China. They may encourage Japan to fight China but they wouldnt bother to stand up for Japan if real fight happens.
