Tokyo, Jun 15 (EFE).- Japan announced Tuesday a donation of 1 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to Vietnam, to ensure equal access to vaccination in the Asian region.

“Japan is working globally to ensure fair access to the vaccine,” Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi told media at a press conference.

The minister said the shipment of 1 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in the archipelago will be flown Wednesday to Vietnam, adding that it is a “free donation.”

“Japan has received requests from several countries and we are making an effort to finance and distribute the vaccine,” Motegui said, adding that “as with Taiwan, we have taken into account the status of infections and the delay in Vietnam’s vaccinations for the donations.”

The 1 million doses to Vietnam come in addition to Japan’s recent shipment of 1.24 million doses of the same vaccine to Taiwan.

Motegi said they plan new shipments to Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand in early July and that additional shipments to Taiwan and Vietnam are being considered.

Taiwan suffered a significant increase in Covid-19 cases in May and is having trouble sourcing vaccines due to friction with China. Vietnam, despite having had an initial response qualified as a model to contain the pandemic, has been registering a rebound in cases.

Regarding cooperation and the distribution of vaccines to other regions of the world, Motegi stated that “it will be taken into account due to the expansion of the variants in different parts of the world and the delay in the distribution of vaccines.”

For now, the country said it is prioritizing donations to members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Indo-Pacific region.

“In addition to bilateral cooperation and the shipment of vaccines manufactured in the archipelago, Japan also plans to distribute vaccines through COVAX,” the minister said.

Japan hosted the last summit of the initiative at the beginning of June to seek an equal distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine, in which leaders of 40 countries pledged to provide additional funds to finance the distribution of 1.8 billion doses more to developing countries.

Nearly expired AZ. Japanse refused to use.
You are right on the dot and absolutely right.

And so will be the 1 billion dose pledged by USA and G7 nations. Canada has hoard enough vaccine to innoculated its population many times over.

They are hoarding so much vaccines and these vaccines all have expiry date.

Great for propaganda but unfortinately insincere offers.

Hungry dogs will eat anything they are offered.

.
Need to note down those are vaccines Japaneses refuse to use. No Vietnamese in the right mind would celebrate this if they know about that.

.

The vaccines are stored to ensure the campaign. the population must receive two shots in the first phase. Then get vaccination refresh by every year.

FDA Finds 60 Million COVID Vaccine Doses Were Potentially Contaminated: Report

The Food and Drug Administration told Johnson & Johnson that about 60 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine made at a Baltimore plant cannot be used, according to a new report.

The New York Times was the first to report on Friday, “The Food and Drug Administration plans to allow about 10 million doses to be distributed in the United States or sent to other countries, but with a warning that regulators cannot guarantee that Emergent BioSolutions, the company that operates the plant, followed good manufacturing practices.”

The report added, “The agency has not yet decided whether Emergent can reopen the factory, which has been closed for two months because of regulatory concerns.”

“More than 100 million doses of Johnson & Johnson and at least 70 million doses of AstraZeneca were put on hold after Emergent discovered in March that its workers had contaminated a batch of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine with a key ingredient used to produce AstraZeneca’s. Federal officials then ordered the plant to pause production, stripped Emergent of its responsibility to produce AstraZeneca’s vaccine and instructed Johnson & Johnson to assert direct control over the manufacturing of its vaccine there.”

In a statement, the FDA said, “Before making this decision, the FDA conducted a thorough review of facility records and the results of quality testing performed by the manufacturer. Based on this review and considering the current COVID-19 public health emergency, the FDA concluded these batches are suitable for use.

“While the FDA is not yet ready to include the Emergent BioSolutions plant in the Janssen EUA as an authorized manufacturing facility, the agency continues to work through issues there with Janssen and Emergent BioSolutions management.”

In fact based on the images posted in Taiwanese blogs, the AstraZeneca vaccines send to Taiwan by Japan have already expired by the end of May 2021.

As long as the vaccine is still good and not expired then ok. It’s better vaccinated than without. Denmark stops using AstraZeneca it donates parts of it to Germany. And here the Germans use it. Sure, the vaccine is seen as second class because of deadly side effects when compared to Biontech or Moderna. Countries as Vietnam haven’t much money and resources to secure expensive vaccines.

A Japanese donation of 966,320 doses of a Covid-19 vaccine arrived in Hanoi on Wednesday night and will be transported to hotspot HCMC on Thursday.
The AstraZeneca vaccines are meant for Ho Chi Minh City to immunize priority groups.
Receiving the consignment at Noi Bai Airport, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said Vietnam is the first Southeast Asian nation to receive vaccine support from Japan.
"Vietnam is committed to using this batch of vaccines effectively and quickly. On Thursday the vaccines will be transported to HCMC to inject ... especially factory workers."
HCMC has been dealing with complicated pandemic developments with multiple clusters of unknown sources. The city recorded 99 local cases on Wednesday, its highest daily number since Covid-19 broke out in Vietnam.
Yamada Takio, the Japan ambassador to Vietnam, said his country wishes to cooperate with the international community to overcome the pandemic.
"Try your best, Vietnam, let’s beat the pandemic," he said.
With the new arrivals, Vietnam has around four million doses of vaccines now.
As of Thursday around 1.77 million people have got shots, mainly frontline Covid workers, with 72,325 getting two.
Vietnam aims to secure 150 million vaccine doses this year to cover 70 percent of its population.

Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long, representing the Vietnamese Government, received the COVID-19 vaccine batch at the airport.

Addressing the event, Minister Long expressed his joy to receive the vaccine shipment as donation by the Japanese Government, saying that this gift is an example of the flourishing relations between Vietnam and Japan, especially amidst complicated developments of the pandemic and critical shortages of vaccines on a global scale.

Vietnam is committed to effectively use of the vaccine as soon as possible, Long said, adding this batch of the vaccine would be transported to Ho Chi Minh City on June 17 morning to inoculate the people and workers in the southern city.

He also said that Vietnam is the first country in Southeast Asia that has received COVID-19 vaccine aid from Japan.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio said the donation is a testament to the longstanding friendship between Japan and Vietnam, and Japan wishes to connect with the international community, especially with Vietnam, to overcome the pandemic.

The Air Japan flight departed from Narita International Airport in Tokyo at 6:45pm on June 16, carrying temperature-controlled shipping containers to maintain 2-8 degrees Celsius, the ideal storage condition for AstraZeneca vaccines.

During the meeting with the Japanese Ambassador on June 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the Japanese Government for the donation following his phone call with Japanese counterpart Suga Yoshihide.
