why doesn't iran develop quad launchers for it's C-802 s, like the chinese? It would be a huge boost in terms of anti-ship capabilities. It's not rocket science being certainly within Iran's capabilities. 8x C-802 will be a credible threat.

What makes you think it needs to develop them (i.e. just because they've chosen to deploy otherwise doesn't mean they can't put them there if they so desire: it is just another set of canisters atop the existing set, which sits on a rack).

Besides, as evidenced by many a NATO warship, often in peacetime only a couple of missile rounds are loaded (e.g. 1-2 Harpoon) rather than the whole 2x4 pack.

Well, have never seen Iran deploy that kind of launchers. Another reason i can think of is that employing them would clear up some space for more RIM-66 'canisters' on the deck (just two, as far as I can see), or perhaps some other air/surface defense measures. Also, Penguin any idea re the air search radar?

If I'm not wrong I remember seeing those quad launcher several year ago a wargame several year ago but they were on truks not ships.
