Persecution of Syrian Christians[edit]

Saint Thomas Cross or Mar Thoma Sliva, the symbol of Saint Thomas Christians
In 1599 under Aleixo de Menezes, the Synod of Diamper forcefully converted the East SyriacSaint Thomas Christians (also known as Syrian Christians or Nasranis) of Kerala to the Roman Catholic Church. He had said that they allegedly practiced Nestorian heresy.[3] The synod enforced severe restrictions on their faith and the practice of using Syriac/Aramaic. They were disfranchised politically and their Metropolitanate status was discontinued by blocking bishops from the East.[3]

There were assassination attempts against Archdeacon George, so as to subjugate the entire Church under Rome. The common prayer book was not spared. Every known item of literature was burnt, and any priest professing independence was imprisoned. Some altars were pulled down to make way for altars conforming to Catholic criteria.[3]

The Nasranis resented these acts and later swore the Coonan Cross Oath, severing relations with the Catholic Church. Most of them came back to form the Syro-Malabar Catholic Churchyears later owing to the mediation efforts of Carmelite missionaries sent from Rome. Those who did not come back to the Catholic Church came to be known as Jacobites, who sought the assistance of the Syriac Orthodox Church.[3] The Jacobites have elected Mar Thoma I as their bishop. There were also attempts to assasinate Mar Thoma I.

There was also persecution of Jews in Cochin.Their Synagogue (the Pardesi Synagogue) was destroyed.

Again, you must be a fool to compare a modern day water crisis with a thousands of year old cultural tradition.
Thank You for repeatedly throwing profanities at me. I am afraid for an intellectually challenged person this is the level of discourse you can resort to. Since you were the one who stated that supreme court is oppressing Tamils and could not counter my points, I rest my case.

We have 'bull eating'' competition in Kerala, our 2000 year old tradition...
Well... Okay

Good for you malayalis then :)
Just make sure you don't force buffalo beef down the throats of those who don't eat it :P

Question:- Would u stop eating beef if the SC forbade anyone in India from eating beef??

Don't Malayali Christians have some history with the Portuguese? They didn't treat u nicely because you weren't Catholics & forced some of u to convert?

You want to counter your mentally challenged argument with valid theories? can not be done by anyone in this forum..

This isn't the first time a court's verdict has become a controversy. Many criticised the court after jaya was released based on a mathematical error, even after this open controversy, what SC is doing? No one said, court gave very good decision in many cases, so Jaya's release should be a correct decision. Every SC/judicial decision is correct, only for the mentally challenged.
