Close on the heels of the death of four soldiers and three militants in two gunfights in Pulwama district, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces have killed the Jaish-e-Mohammad’s “district commander,” Altaf Baba, in yet another encounter on Wednesday.

Sources said the police, the Army and the CRPF launched a search operation on a tip-off at Ichhgooza. One of the holed-up militants died and one more was trapped in a house. A soldier was injured.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police in South Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed the death of Altaf Baba of Aglar, claiming that he was Jaish-e-Mohammad’s “district commander.”

He was killed in an orchard while trying to escape from the cordoned area.

Keep em' coming. I keep saying, these new boys are only good at ambushing our troops in densely populated areas from the midst of a civilian cluster..no amount of training will stem the casualties in such a case..as forces engaged in COIN ops all across the world have found..well unless you go after them with F-16s and JDAMs. We ain't gonna aim the heavy stuff at places where our own people live so its down to regular and brutal ground dominance. Still if they want to keep throwing their youth towards martyrdom..what can one do..reload and keep popping them.

Why do these a$$holes always flee? Why don't they stay put and fight? I think their training needs to improve drastically. Their morale and motivation seems to have hit a new low!! The syllabus in their training camps needs drastic improvement.

JeM militant killed in encounter

A top Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander was killed in an encounter with the police and the Army in Pulwama on Wednesday. Altaf Ahmad Baba was the Divisional Commander for south Kashmir.

Acting on a specific input about the presence of JeM militants in Achagoza village, a joint team of the police and the Army's 44 Rashtriya Rifles had cordoned off the village.

Militants reportedly opened indiscriminate fire as the police and the Army zeroed-in on the target house. Police retaliated resulting in the death of the militant.

Altaf had joined JeM five years ago. According to the police, Altaf was involved in several killings in south Kashmir and was categorized as A++ militant.

because they know that if they stay there then Indian Army will put a big bamboo into their a$$ and rotate it so hard that they will remember forever....they are buch of cowards who can only attack in the back.

Who cares what they think. They want to put their youths in early graves from bullet holes..let em'..and when it comes to bite them back again then let them rip with the F-16s on their own populated areas...the number we've lost in 20+ years..they've lost just as much in just 8. We can afford to take a few nicks and scratches..let see if they can afford to bleed..the TTP put them in the arms of the IMF within the first 2 years of their ops..their talibs couldn't dent India in 20 years.

Non of these terrorist belongs in Kashmir all of them are unemployed Pakistani youth.

But because of these growing encounter these days I dnt think we can reduce number of armed persons from Kashmir soon.
