What's new

Jaguar Darin II

.
Nice pictures dude...... another old work horse in IAF's inventory.

How many years of service these planes have left in ur opinion......?

.
Cant say for certain Melby, but another decade at the least. The darin II upgrades among others have made the Jaguar good as new. There are two types of Jags in IAF, one is an interceptor, other is a strike platform.

.
The jaguars main role is deep penetration stike. but it can also fend for itself against enemy aircraft. also makes a decent interceptor. but definitely not an air superiority fighter.

Jaguars are to be replaced by the PAKFA

.
Su-47,

Jaguar Low Level Deep Pentration Strike Fighters, same role as the MiG-27. Dont confuse it with anyother role, It is an interceptor in the maritime role and is not a air superiority Platform

I personally favour Rose 2/3 Mirages. But like Jaguar the Mirages are already dumped in western forces. Jaguar is still being assembled in India as a new plane while the Mirages are somewhere three decades old...

IAF's upgraded Jaguars are some of the best tactical Bombers in the world. They are not exactly the best but they get the job done and they fit our requirements against Pakistan.

Maximum of 4,500 kg of payload and you counted Jaguar among the best tactical bombers in the world? Is that why that even the Ecuadorean and Nigerian Air Forces have already retired them let alone France and UK? Jaguar is a formidable interdictor/deep strike aircraft, but "some of the best tactical bombers in the world" is little to inflated an appraisal.

My bad. I did not fully understand the term "tactical bomber". Jaguar is a good deep strike aircraft and one of the best at "what it does". The Ecuadorean and Nigerian air forces might not have the resources required to maintain the aircraft or they might not have deep strike need as much as IAF does. Also IAF has other priorities and IIRC they will begin phasing out the Jaguar in 2017.

Sometimes an accurate 4,500 kg strike is more useful than a carpet bombing run.
