Jadavpur University debate on India's superpower status

with no offense but only talking & big population doesnt make any country a super power

hardwork, sincerity & peace with neibours make one country a developed....

but every thing is opposite in india, indians should learn from China....

Yes I agreee with you....with a population of more than 120 crores...unless and otherwise societal and political process is reformed to create dream like a emerging power.....And all these talks are non sense talks .....And of course if Congress stays for another term in election....India will struggle to compete with country like poor countries...This is a one sad truth....One nation can not prosper with only hope alone that one day after some distant years...We will do good...These are just non sense middle class appeasing thoughts propagated by our Indian media only...Nothing else....

regular india bashing from some members as usual..anyway,i belong to J.U. and it is just a discussion meet of students from various colleges about some geopolitics, nothing serious.good to see the topic Indian interest on Afganistan is covered in that meet.but why a college meet is in the world topic anyway??? :cheesy: and some say we are obsessed... :hang3:

It's reported by TOI. Jadavpur University debate on India's superpower status - Times Of India. Yeah, why a college meet is a newspaper topic anyway? You Indians are obsessed with the superpower idea.

That is what india teaches its students, india is a super power and that why we see indians talking garbage here.
mate,at least we teach something meaningful in our universities and regarding Jadavpur University, its one of the premium universities in the entire Asia in Science and Engineering Technology.on the other hand i know quite a bit about Dhaka University and the standard of education offered there:azn:.so please first try to uplift the educational standard of your country(coz a substantial number of your students end of studying in various Indian universities;)) then come and criticize Indian universities!

India is economically not even close to China, let alone the US.
mate remember one thing that China was no where near the top 10 economies in the 80s and even in the late 90s but a massive economic growth made it the 2nd largest economy replacing Japan(which was the 2nd largest economy for 42 years at a stretch!).and all this happened due to a phenomenal growth rate within a decade.so what i am trying to convey here is that the growth rate is very unstable.one year you may enjoy a growth rate of 10% and in the next year it may come down to 4% in the light of the current ongoing global financial crisis.but if fortune favour India and if it can experience a growth rate of around 9-10% for a decade then who can say that India won't become a superpower in the next 20 years!:azn:

Having a huge economy doesnt make any country a superpower.

Japan has a almost as big an economy and better living standards than China. Would you call Japan a superpower?

Military might does not make a country a superpower.

Russia is more powerful than China, would you call Russia a superpower?

Superpowers exert their political will almost anywhere on the globe, have huge economies, have huge, modern and strong armies AND a highly developed high income economy.

Going by those standards, even China is not a superpower. There is only one superpower, which is the US.

And India is still a third world country, in the developing stages. A couple decades of growth, the worlds 3rd largest economy on paper, and some nukes dont make us superpower.

India will not be a superpower for the next 100 years atleast, even China wont.

Since when did University debates becomes news in world affairs

Uni debates are cute to say the most.

I thought about joining one once back in college.

But I can't troll, or say or do evil things against my opponents.

That's why I joined PDF

mate i am only talking about things which are quite possible to achieve at least when it comes to India.remember we were having a growth rate of around 8% for the last 7-8 years(only last year our growth rate was around 6.9% and probably it'll be around 6% this year).so technically we can achieve that magical figure of 10% growth p.a. in the next couple of years as the global financial crisis is melting slowly but surely.
And regarding your comments at the end of your post, well i can only wish you luck in your quest to become the future president of pakistan and getting the nuke codes;)

Why Indian are obsessed with superpower so much?Similar articles like this are too many!Even the educated university students are so ignorant.
