It looks like a modified version of J-11B. J-15 is a transit fighter for the start up of China's carrier fleet. New naval fighters are in the pipelines. Copycat or great master in reverse engineering? Who cares? Either you sell to China with a reasonable price or you'd be fcked because of your arrogance.

Are you for real or do you guys actually beleive that those fake J-XX photoshops from post #11 are real?

Any sensible person with the slightest sense of depth perception would see the difference between a real picture and a photoshop job.

And i'm sorry but photoshops don't give me anxiety.

Sukhoi have always been more then reasonable with prices, esspecially when you consider all that the SU-27/30 offers, not to mention large twin engine aircraft are more expensive to manufacture because of material and time needed, those bastard cheating Russians even gave TOT.

In any case, your thinking is emoral and dishonest, what if China sold the J-10 to some country and that country decided that the price was unreasonably, and as so, that country desided to 'fck' those same 'arrogant' people over that sold them the J-10. According to you, anyone may screw over the Chinese if they feel the price is unreasonable, and it would be totally fine with you.

Hey man, there's no reason to get worked up over comments like that. China, India, Russia etc. are all making decisions they believe are best for themselves, nobody cares enough to "fck" somebody else. That's what individuals acting on emotions do, not what nations acting on logic do.

I'm not worked up at all, i know Sanchez's thinking is his personal opionion; his comments were in poor taste. I also want to know what he would think if someone thought China was unreasonable with price, according to him it would be okay for someone to 'fck' China if they felt the price was not fair.

In any case, Sanchez, do not buy if you feel the price is not fair.

From what I've read, is that China couldn't justify paying for full the production line start-up plus the price of Su-33 they were going to order. Hence they bought the prototype. I suppose China could pay a small fee to Sukhoi using their design, which shouldn't exceed the total price of buying all of them from Russia. Both sides will be happy in this case right?

all i want to say is that copying looks bad for one's reputation. Now if it doesn't affect chines reputation, than it's different issue.

You should try to convince your IAF chief about copying or reverse engineering will looks bad for India's reputation.

IAF vice-chief prefers reverse engg to build defence systems

IAF Vice-Chief Air Marshal Pranab Kumar Barbora today suggested India should go the Chinese way by gathering technical data to produce defence equipment through reverse engineering.

Addressing a gathering at a convention of The Frontiers of Aeronautical Technologies and 61st AGM in Bangalore, Air Marshal Babora said, “Do reverse engineering. Don't be scared. Our neighbours are already doing it. If someone does not give you, and you want it, do reverse engineering.”

His comments, however, might not go down well with Americans and Europeans, who are finding it hard to protect their intellectual property rights.

Reverse engineering is a process of analysing a technology to ascertain how it was designed. The knowledge is then used to build the equipment or system or make improvements to it without using any physical part of the original.

Critical of the defence industry’s inability to be self-reliant in producing indegenous systems for defence and aerospace requirements, Air Marshal Barbora said, “We have got the best brains, but it has to be focussed to get the product.”

Prodding the defence establishment and manufacturers to go for joint ventures and get the technological knowhow of systems, Barbora said: “No country has produced fighter aircraft on its own. It has been a joint effort of like-minded countries.”

Barbora said India was technologically less literate than Russia and China because it had no access to middle-level technologies following World War-II. “Now, a lot of private players have emerged in India, but they are playing rough because of rules and regulations.”

He also asked the private sector to focus on core competence instead of trying to manufacture the entire aircraft from scratch. “We must not dilute our core competency,” he said.

Citing China’s efforts, the Air Marshal said while the country was already producing entire airbuses, Indian companies were proud and satisfied to produce a few small parts like doors and undercarriages.

“When China can manufacture an Airbus, why not India? Though we are a major economic power to reckon with in South Asia, we have not leveraged it to bargain for greater access to aerospace technologies or attracting overseas investment through joint ventures to develop our state-run or private industry,” he rued.

The Indian Air Force is buying equipment worth billions of dollars every year. However, the benefits of these are not reaching the private sector in the absence of a “national policy framework or national technology plan”.

“A sound national policy will enable stakeholders to work within a timeframe and deliver the equipment required for the armed forces, especially the IAF,” Barbora said.

Copy for which ?Russia didn't sell us any su33 .we just buy one prototype from
Ukraine 10 years ago.and a prototype just can give a limit help .we study it for ten years just with a prototype moreover we has no experience for use aircraft carrier.10 years it not just a moment if so easy that everyone can make it. I don't know the parameter for it now ,may be 2 years later we can get some informations for that .at that time compare it with su33 is not too late .Su33 is a very good type aircarft.learn some good design is more useful than closed door.this is the key piont you have something even disassembly under your eyes that you can't make it like F22 .Just get rid of the stale and bring forth the fresh that you can stay leading role.if your have trump card did you need to care it ?
For the aircarft their is no patent,who can so stupid to give the detail parameter to other country just for a patent.this is a secret for the military.
