It's true: Middlesex University is Pakistani Information Minister's Voldemort
Earlier today a video emerged in which Pakistan's Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed has a problem. A very pressing problem.
Speaking about Imran Khan's son's university, the information minister said: "I will not take the name of that place. I will not take the name of that place because if a Muslim speaks that name, he will have to do wuzu (ritual ablution). But ask Khan Saheb what this area's name is. If Khan Saheb tells you this name, he will also have to do wuzu.
Rasheed was referring to none other than Middlesex University, situated north of London in England.
The reason he couldn't state the university's name? Well, it has has the word 'sex' in it!
The situation immediately brings to mind the Harry Potter series and 'Voldemort', otherwise known as He Who Must Not Be Named.
Now, we all know Pakistanis have an uneasy relationship with sex. But is the word for a perfectly natural reproductive process really so powerful that it can reduce a national representative to using innuendo? As powerful as the darkest wizard ever? Apparently, yes.
Rasheed's Potter moment spawned its very own hashtag on Twitter, ##placespervaizrasheedcantname. Twitterati weighed in on what other locations might terrify Rasheed so. Here's a little teaser:
Here's hoping Rasheed finds the courage to overcome this soon.
