On 3rd September, Wuhan Bioengineering Institute starts its new semester.
Refurbished dormitories are ready for freshmen!

Requirements

1, All students MUST live on campus.

2, Refurbished rooms are limited, and students with higher entrance exam marks can choose first.

3, Refurbished rooms are priced higher than normal dorms (normally <1500yuan per year), but still at a subsidised price, around 2200-2600 yuan per year ($330-390 per year)

4. Students can apply for free or discounted prices if they are from the underprivileged families.

5, Another 750 units for old students are also distributed based on merits.

6. There will be an exit mechanism at the end of the semester based on merits.

7. More refurbished dorms will be ready.

Wow, is this for two in a room?
Price?
Price is per person.

When I was in college, dorms are like this...
Cheaper, 1000 yuan per year in Shanghai....
4-6 students per room (compulsory, must live on campus)

But now, young people are "spoiled", they call for better environment!
I remember we didn't have A/C in our primary school classrooms.....
But now, they are gonna cry if time returns!:D

I meant two students in a room because I saw only two beds in the picture in Wuhan. It's quite luxurious for two. But the regular dorms look pretty okay. 6 is too many in one room IMO.

Why is it compulsory to live on campus? Is it compulsory for students doing Masters and PhD also?

Do you get your own high speed internet?

All Chinese universities provide dorms for every student, at very cheap price or free for the underprivileged.

At all Chinese universities, wifi and broadband is free and no usage limit.
I remember when I was in college, I could download a song less than 5 seconds.

How's Yunnan University?

How's Yunnan University?
I've actually traveled to Kunming City many many times....
Their campus is really beautiful, and is located on a small hill and by a huge lake in the downtown....
(The old campus)
But academically, Yunnan Uni probably is not even top 20 in China.

The city is one of my most beloved one in China.
15-25 degree all the year around....
And it will be connected by Shanghai-Kunming HSR and Guangzhou-Nanning-Kunming HSR this December!

Yunnan Province is one of Southwest China's top 3 beautiful provinces.
I travel there every 1-2 years.

That's good weather.

If one is to learn Mandarin in China, do you go to a university or somewhere else?

Dunno...
I think most students from abroad will study Chinese or sinology in uni, there are thousands of them in my city alone.

Are these for Super Rich people?
You think 2200-2600 yuan per year is a big figure?

. .
Actually Chinese education system is the toughest their university entrance test will make you hit ur head against wall.

I was saying that by looking at the pictures of those dorms

It depends.
The college I mentioned in OP is something you can enter with your eyes closed during the exam.
We have 50+ uni or collage in my city, that one is not even top20.

Most likely colleges are competing to get the best students through amenities. The days of cramming people into crappy small rooms with one bathroom shared by the entire floor are over. 2/4 person dorm apartments with Individual bedrooms, bathrooms with tubs/showers, full kitchens and things like that are now used to grab people's attention.

Here's a page with Boston University dorms.
