so simple its demo... well why you just consider Pakistan in your statement ?? see Chili etc surrounding area's also affected and many people died...
But why do you think Chili is a very poor nation or it should have caused similar effects to Chili in Pakistan.
They have 8x (or more) better GDP per capita than us.
They have 3x more exports than us... meaning they have well established industry
They are smaller in size than us but far more developed

and the area where 7.4 earth quake was recorded is very poor with almost no infrastructure unlike Chili. If I am not wrong the entire area's total population does not exceed 15,000-2000 peoples and when it reached to Karachi or Quetta which is 100s of miles away or other parts of the country... the intensity had been weakened causing less damage to the public. Can somebody tell me what was the earthquake in Karachi on Richtar Scale?

Anyway, we must Thank God in every moment... Had this earthquake taken place little deeper inside Pakistan. It may have killed millions of peoples and wrecked our economy even more
