There was nothing 'back room' in the blood money deal. As stupid as the law is, giving licence to rich people to commit murder, that is the law in Pakistan and Raymond Davis played by the rules. The issue with him was about diplomatic immunity, not the blood money.

Similar deals happen in the legal world. If defence and prosecution lawyers reach a deal, the judge will usually go along -- unless he really wants to be a stickler.

I wont credit the diplomacy, spineless idiots, instead I will give full credit to our Supreme Court. At least one institution of India showed some spines.

Just last month we executed 4 Foreign nationals for killing Chinese fishermen in SE Asia.

And before that we executed a British National for smuggling drugs.

Now what are you going to do? Elect some Italians as the head of your country?

Do think, there would be a difference between the killing of the Chinese fishermen and this? The people who committed the crime were drug lords.

What needs to applied post this, is that, rules of engagement need to be laid down for the Arabian Sea. Fishermen of all countries in the periphery need to be advised on actions to avoid which could lead to conflict.

The death penalty is only for the rarest of rare crimes. Either against an individual or against the State.

For the current case, it will be mistaken identity. Hence, death is ruled out. There will most likely be compensation to be paid. But, it is really difficult to see any kind of stringent punishment being meted out.

There has been no deal about the jurisdiction , just that they will not face the death penalty . which in this case was never on the cards as it was a case of mistaken identity , death is awarded in the rarest of all cases.
