Again it is not the idea of covering up. It is the idea of either forcing women to cover up or forcing them NOT to cover up is wrong.
NOTE: If a news came of how a country made it obligatory for all women to wear full Hijab you will see me fighting this law too and not backing it.
Why it is always between Burqa and Bikini? I am all for women dressing modestly and actually a fan of Hijab (I love colors) but a full veiled black Burqa is a no-no
If it is true then they should not wear it at all. It is a faith thing not a fear thing. But that does not mean that all Hijab wearers wear it by force though and this falls under generalizing which is wrong punishing the many for the mistakes of the few.
Burqa should be shunned by Muslim 'Males' (I know a few who do), banning the same I not sure was right or wrong but wearing a full veiled face covering black burqa is a medieval practice which should be discouraged
One of my Muslim female friend had to shift to a conservative Muslim neighborhood, her father had a big loss in business, she was pressured and forced to wear a full veiled burqa by others citing that your daughter is having bad influence on our daughters, they will revolt, her father was threatened not to educate her, keep her in burqa etc, boys used to follow her/tease her to college to make sure she doesn't remove the same in college, she broke down narrating me the story

Its their choice why force your way on women then you yourself would be no different than those fathers who force their daughters to wear it.
And I was only making a point if a woman is dressing modestly not trying to attract attention to herself by putting a ton of make up and showing skin to get some eyes. Again I understand there is so much in between a Burqah and a Bikini but there is a line in the middle that no Muslim woman should cross according to her faith. If she wishes to cross it all we can do is tell her that what she is doing is wrong and leave her to her choices.
The point is Burqa is not modest, it's makes no sense and is oppressive, I have heard people call Burqa clad women as 'Ninjas', 'Suicide Bombers'. As I said I am all for women dressing modestly but if that line of modesty is on the wrong side of full veiled face covering burqa and the same is compulsory in Islam then please don't claim that Islam present a raw deal to women
This is terrible and not-Islamic at all. These people need immediate education on what Islam truly says on the subject.
Muslim girl prefers jeans to burqa, gets death threats in return
A young Muslim girl in the Indian state of Kerala has been receiving death threats for not wearing the burqa, and instead often opting for jeans. She is an aeronautical engineer by qualification striving to get into the country's civil services.
For Rayana R Khasi, a resident of Kasargode, 600 km from state capital Thiruvananthapuram, her problems began after she returned from Chennai city last year after completing her engineering studies and coaching classes for the civil services exam.
Initially there were polite pleas from her relatives to don the traditional Muslim attire. "Then my neighbours started advising me and since then there have had anonymous callers on my mobile telling me they will have no choice but to kill me because I continue to defy the burqa," Rayana told the Indo Asian News Service (IANS).
Matters took a turn for the worse last month when she began receiving threatening letters which said she would be killed before August 26. Rayana received police protection after she approached the Kerala High Court. The harassment, however, did not stop. Since then she has received further threats and the new deadline to "go back to burqa and apologise to society if she wanted to live" is September 18, according to the Deccan Herald.
"My father is a businessman and when he is short of money, it is my mother who comes to his help by giving her gold ornaments. And that is when she resorts to wearing the burqa so that no one can see that she doesn't have her jewellery. My sisters also support me because they know I have not done any wrong," said Rayana.
According to NDTV news channel, the police have now arrested four persons who threatened her. One of the suspects is believed to be a member of Popular Front of India (PFI), the radical Islamist group that was involved in chopping off the palm of a Christian lecturer recently for allegedly insulting prophet Mohammed.
Kerala is one of India's most literate states, and has a mix of Hindus, Muslims and Christians.

This is what passes for as free choice: (wear it of your own free choice or we will kill you)
Cool propaganda you got there mate. Again disregarding everything I said from the begging.

Not at all. I get your point. Your folly is to assume that everyone else will be as reasonable as you. The case cited by me may be an aberration; maybe not! However it points out the inherent danger in the line of thinking espoused by you.
Btw, this was a big issue which made headlines for quite some time in India. It points out to the foolishness of assuming that there exists a free choice within a society that agrees/condones such behaviour.
It really happens, mate.
