It worked: Indian army diverts troops manning LOC in Kashmir- to LAC in Ladahk

.
India wants to make miracles like the "Six-Day War". That is why they spend a lot of money to buy weapons from Russia, USA, Israel, France

.
According to the following Indian analyst, the Indian military and strategy establishments are out of sync with the Chinese designs! The longer the face-off the better for the Chinese! And, LAC will be like LOC!!! And, frequency of decisive incursions and land capture will only increase with time with higher magnitudes! Pak has got lucky...

LOC and LAC are like two giants sitting upon the Indian shoulders till she completely collapses....

Sending troops into IOK a minor event. I love how rss have minimised chinese invasion.

:D

How do you connect your two sentences above?

I hope there would be soon action from Pakistani side on Kashmir due to this golden opportunity.

Umeed par duniya qayam hai.

Will return to this utterly fascinating thread later today, after some good sleep.

Golden like the crowns of SARS-CoV-2, as it spreads by the millions in Pakistan. What a perfect scenario with an economy in tatters, unemployment rising, population sick and leadership crisis throughout major provinces.

Every successful strategist from Hannibal to Sun Tzu to John Boyd would pounce at the chance.

The LoC ends at NJ9842. The point beyond which is Siachen Glacier. India captured it in 1984 citing that its not part of cease fire line. Siachen is across GB. If India wants it and it expressed its intentions, it could attack GB. With Chinese troops on Ladakh now, its a great diversion and division which will work in Pakistan favor.

I wish to see Kashmir free from Indian control. Time might be getting close.

China stabbed us in the back. In the middle of a pandemic, this was not expected."

What the f*ck is that? Its a war. Not some Bollywood love triangle treachery.

Pakistan and Pakistanis biggest problem is they are trigger happy at the wrong time and the wrong place.

For a coward there are always hundreds of excuses to justify his lack of courage whether covid or no covid.

“My center is giving way, my right is in retreat; situation excellent. I shall attack.” - Marshal Ferdinand Foch, Allied C-in-C during WW1

With Covid-19 and a full scale tussle with USA at the background, the Chinese appear to be following this French commander for a change....

Second, that we needed to step back and think about the Chinese and their motives. They never, ever do anything without a reason, but typically two or three or more reasons all conflated into one action. I have suggested some of the Indo-centric reasons (there are others, very major) for their doing whatever they are doing; they are angry that Modi is talking to Trump, who is turning out to be a bigger threat to the world than the pandemic, they are angry at public displays of affection with the Japanese, the South Koreans, the Vietnamese, the Indonesians, the Malaysians (a little), and they are furious with the open flirtation with the Taiwanese. Plus it is general policy to keep India unbalanced and uncertain about what is happening, all of which gets done by their posting some fierce Colonels to their Border Defence Regiments, making permanent their structures on their side of the LAC, posting a few regiments of light tanks and mechanised infantry to those locations, playing cat and mouse in the air, with their air force flying figures of eight, and flying straight at Indian radar installations and breaking off at the very last minute, and all the sorts of things that the Chinese love to do, to remind everyone what lovable creatures they are.

Besides Indo-centric reasons for their odd behaviour, there may be other, very strong reasons for this behaviour. There is constant speculation nowadays that Chairman Xi is under severe pressure because of the virus and the way the Chinese authorities reacted to it, the lack of transparency, the openly humiliating angry talk about China and the virus; that the civil unrest in Hong Kong has been a major source of worry; that the erratic behaviour of Trump is another source of uncertainty; and that altogether, the PRC is not in a good mood, and this is showing up in terms of pressure on all exposed pressure points.

Good analysis from an Indian's perspective but, in my opinion, far from reality. I do not think that there is "this" or "that" reason for China's move. Its simply a check, as in chess, in bigger scheme of things. For long China has provided India with a secure invulnerable flank at LAC, which resulted in convergence of military resources on its border with Pakistan. With CPEC and China's world leadership aspirations, it was bound to happen.

Its purely my opinion, and you have all the right to disagree, that Chinese are on LAC for long term. And the hostility on LAC would be directly proportionate to Indian aggression on LOC.

Apart from your linking the LAC with the LOC, I agree completely. There is no contradiction between your analysis and mine; I had said that what China was up to was a seemingly simple action born out of multiple complex reasons, and you say that it is a check, and is to be seen in the bigger scheme of things. Quite so.

As for China having provided India with a secure invulnerable flank, do take a look at Indian dispositions, her order of battle along the LAC; for decades, it has dedicated its XIV Army Corps to the LAC + Siachen + Dras/Kargil/Batalik, that is, all but the Vale of Kashmir. It is this Corps that is receiving relieving troops (at this time of year, there is a cycle of transfers and relieving actions) and nothing more. The RRs that some are discussing are specialised counter-insurgency commandoes of 900 soldiers each but affiliated to their parent regiments and recruiting only from that parent. Some of these are being transferred, as the Vale is quiescent at the moment (hostile hopes to the contrary). Besides this, at the moment, speculation on major troops movements is just that and nothing more. There may have been, however, major additional materiel movement, including fuel and ordnance.

There is no golden opportunity; but if it were there, then all the internal problems that you've mentioned would never desist a foresighted leader from making a move. Any losses incurred would become acceptable.

Cowardly excuses of a similar nature were given by Messervy and Gracy when Quaid ordered them to send troops in Kashmir. The pretense of tattered economy, refugee problem and paranoia of Indian invasion was given to conceal their true loyalties which lay elsewhere. The saga of timidity was repeated at Chamb in 65. See the result: Kashmir lost (probably forever)

Some armchair thoughts(please dont take it seriously- treat it as some entertainment):

1)war in kashmir = in reality, war of water

2)assuming India has been evicted from the greater Kashmiri region:

all tributary streams feeding the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saltoro_River and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilafond_Glacier#cite_note-3 (the river's ultimate source)flowing west/southwest into baltistan from the larger siachen glacier region- would be under the control of pakistan. Wiki says Pakistan controls the Bilafond glacier, but India controls Bilafond la , which is the pass for accessing the glacier itself(i dont know? some 'war of editing' going on).

all tributsry streams feeding the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nubra_River @ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sia_La , which is where the major congregation of streams flowing east to form the Nubra- is located. They flow east/southeast into the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nubra_Valley in ladahk from the larger siachen glacier region.

The Nubra valley is Buddhist-majority-populated, with Diskit as its district HQ.

"Like the rest of the Tibetan Plateau, Nubra is a high altitude cold desert with rare precipitation and scant vegetation except along river beds. The villages are irrigated and fertile, producing wheat, barley, peas, mustard and a variety of fruits and nuts, including blood apples, walnuts, apricots and even a few almond trees. Most of the Nubra Valley is inhabited by Nubra dialect or Nubra Skat speakers. The majority are Buddhists. In the western or lowest altitude end of Nubra Valley near the Line of Control i.e. the Indo-Pak border, along the Shyok River, the inhabitants are Balti of Gilgit-Baltistan, who speak Balti, and are Shia and Sufia Nurbakhshia Muslims."

these is taking into the interest of each country. each controls the immediate adjacent stream of the river that flows into their side
