If Sri Lanka wants to buy JF-17, why are the Indians jumping mad around like monkeys in heat? Relax, they are not buying the planes against you, for you guys we are more than enough.
Let them buy what they want, they are a sovereign country.

Come on mate, India doesn't have much to do with this deal. Its good news for Pakistan and Great News for SriLanka but India doesn't have much to do with it and honestly I haven't seen Indians showing their "Indian" side so keep cool and don't pull them into it.

Sri Lanka had lost its entire air-fleet in the war with Tamil Terrorists and over the next decade you can expect them to fly a squadron plus of aircraft. Its not a huge number again but the fact that yet another country has trusted JF-17 matters a lot and makes it easier for future customers to make decision.

because it isnt a deal but a proposal for the time being, the srilankan article says that..the deal if finalize will takes years and the delivery may take 4-5 years, thats how defense deals work

I think that as a myth also has to be dispelled.(AND I DONT WANT TO DRAG THIS DISCUSSION BEYOND THIS POST AS TO NOT DERAIL THE TOPIC)
The Hunter was a much better aircraft in terms of power and even had wonderful maneuverability.
it replaced the F-86 in the RAF..and like it also had ranging radar and a lead computing sight based on it.

Also, not all F-86's of the PAF had A2A missile wiring.. some 40 aircraft at maximum.
and nearly not enough missile.

The F-104 was also overrated..

and both sides operated the Canberra..
So it did come down to better training.. in both the wars..

To all the Gentlemen (and if any ladies) here.. after briefly going through a majority of troll posts, I must say without any prejudice that the SL government is a sovereign state and has its own decisions INDEPENDENT of any other nations.

It wants to guard its air space and with the old lot of equipment, they want to buy 6 new planes . Every nation has its right to buy , maintain and prolong its collateral and should not be seen as a threat to anyone. It is Sri Lanka's business as to whom they choose to buy from and no one else's.

And without being too judgemental, this troll-fest would not have started had one of our Pakistani friends had not mentioned - to paraphrase him - "now the Indians will start hissing". It was totally uncalled for and well, you got what you wanted anyways... nothing but a troll-fest of a thread. The deal is between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and you guys should have kept it at that.

We're more busy...we've got between 150-300 JF-17s to make for the PAF & soon !

China is not India，which is in the habit of announcing things that won't happen decades down the road。

On the contrary，China would annouce anything only sometime after the thing in question is a reality rather than a figment of the imagination。

Take AC as a exmaple。While India has been boasting about its 2nd AC that will be catapult-driven and even nuclear powered，China is quitely working on its own catapult flattop，the existence of which won't be annouced or confirmed till such time that China sees fit，meaning a wait years into，or even at the completion of the programme。

No but Pakistan always customizes aircraft that we purchase as per certain specific requirements of PAF. We did it with the J-7s, the A-5s, the F-86s, the F-104s, the F-6s, the F-16s, the FC-20 (J-10 as per Pakistani specifications) & even the MLU package we purchased for our F-16 as tailor made for the PAF !

So it might be reasonable to assume that when or if we do go for the J-31s they'd be customized to some extent to the needs & wants of the PAF !
