What's new

It has always been the gameplan of Bangladesh to grab Assam: LT Gen SK Sinha

Before you go further, Jako, will you check your statistics : % of Muslims in Govt. jobs, in the University, Engineering / Medical College, Overseas Scholarships, etc. as against actual population ?
SIR,I would earnestly request you to come to India(I see no other way of you believing me),and chck da situation here..............,the education system prevailant in India is secular by every mean..............yes da situation was diffrnt a few decades back, due to regular conflicts, but,a lot has changed now........by da way ever heard anyone named A.P.J ABDUL KALAM.........-my idol.

Why not you name a few high ranking Muslim officials, VCs, in West Bengal ? We can check it very easily. How many Muslim MPs in National parliament, and WB parliament against population ratio ?

How come we did not hear about APJ ? He was advertised so much that his case now is out of mileage. Cite a fresher case. How many you have like APJ ?

How many communal riots in India ? How many in Bangladesh ? Just go for those incidences in Internet, note down the references, and compare.

Not to speak of Muslim--what about harijons ? How are you treating them now ? How many sects in your society ? Can the harijons touch your goddess now ? Internets are full of horrifying tells in this regards. I have seen many such cases while visiting India.

Please give us some improved figures (with reference). It will be nice to know.

It would be easy for BD to take Assam, but only question would be holding it. But lets move away from the that unlikely possibility. I read there is a large BD population/refugees in that state. They seem to have considerably political power because they got a law requiring BDs to learn Assam's language repealed. So all BD has to do is keep sending/having people go live in that state and then claim it as their own. :enjoy:

.
Straight sir,i know exactly where my ancestors r from and wat my m-language is........and yes bengalis here do care bout dere bd brothers and wd do anything to stop a possible indo-bangla conflict ,but it wd be immature for us for leaving india nd joining bd.....wb is a state of secular india and will remain da same......diz plan wd hav been possible but da history offers very little in its favour.

Why, Jako. It is more matured that Bangladesh and WB stay together as one country. India is newer product. Before that, WB and today's Bangladesh was one under Mughal rule. That is the older and most matured model.

In both Bengal together--Greater Bangladesh---we will speak the same State Language---our Mother Tongue, and you need not talk in hindi to express yourselves with severe inferiority complex. Our letterhead, documents, signboards, songs, dialouges---all in our tongue. Same name of flowers, foods, trees, and other elements of life.

How long lead a life of an expatriate in your own land ? Where is the dignity of an independent life if I can not express myself 24 hours in the language that my mother taught me ?

Look our national airlines bear a Bangla name "Biman" written in Bangla served by crews who speak plain bengali, serves original bengali dishes, all forms & docs are in bengali, newspapers in bengali, address and announcement in bengali, songs & entertainment in bengali, crews dresses are bengali---touching around 40 cities of the world.

On the other hand, you being a bengali can not show your identity as such to the world. You have to speak in other tongues to tell your mother's tongue is yet different.

Is not it better to live like a free lion in your own turf than like a shackled dog in other people's city dwelling ?

You have a bondage with me by way of common mother tongue, food, agriculture, landscape, seasons, songs & musics, literature, arts & non-religious cultures, letters & symbols, grammar & words, and many other issues. In secular India--as you claim--what is your bondage with a Sikh or Tamil who even do not understand each other's tale of sorrow or happiness if expressed in own language ? Pls reply honestly.

Yet you are shaky to accept Greater Bangladesh, how you dream of a Greater India ? We are entitled, if we wish, to courageously dream of Greater Bangladesh, then Greater Bangladesh with 7 sisters, then Greater India including Pakistan = true All India. Why ? Because we bought freedom at the price of blood & anguish. We are INDEPENDENT having IDENTITY OF OUR OWN--whatever it is. Remember : My mother---drunk or sober, My country rich or poor.......

APJ Abdul Kalam - India's most inspirational leader

like him - some indian muslims who made it to top

Azim Premji - India's Richest IT Baron, owner of Wipro Tech
A R Rahman - india's top musician
Zakir Husain - India's top tabla player
Zaheer Khan - India's top bowler
The Khans - india's top film stars (and scores more)
M F Husain - india's top painter
Javed Akhtar - india's top lyricist
Yusuf Hamied - Cipla founder, billionaire
Sania Mirza - india's top female tennis player

this ist i just copied from some place, my point is that muslims get all the opportunities that anyone else gets, otherwise they would not have made it to the top in so many fields. does it mean these people represent muslims of india? of course not, its like asking if sachin tendulkar represents the hindus...

all i'm saying is india is moving towards becoming a meritocracy. as to if things are improving, the indians would know best :)

I appreciate. Thanks a lot, fateh71.

But what about other parts of the query : West Begal specific similar statistics, perpetual riots, harijons ....etc. ? That helps to get a fuller and realistic picture.

Hmmm... you ask me to do lots of work,

Let me simplify it, why will hindus of WB wanna joing bangladesh where the % of hindus is falling? won't they feel threatened? please correct the numbers if wrong.

Declining Hindu population in Bangladesh region
Year Percentage (%)
1941 28.0
1951 22.0 (understandable - partition)
1961 18.5
1974 13.5
1981 12.13
1991 10.52
2001 9.4

on the other hand i acknowledge that bangladeshis have remained liberal and secular despite their economic problems and the influence of saudi money.

And what abt the harijans? They are controlling more and more of india's politics, they get reservations in all spheres, there are harsh laws to protect them and indeed any discrimination outlawed.

Yes there will be examples of failure of implementation of law, but that applies to all laws because india being a developing country has police reform, law enforcement and conviction rate issue- just like all third world countries.

good thing - its improving.

India claims to be a secular state. Bangaldesh is not. Islam being a very core fabric of Bangladesh society, it plays its role and impart its effect in most spheres of life--in varying degrees though--along with many undeniable unislamic aspects at the same time.

But to be truly or even fairly Islamic, you need not be communal at all.

Therefore, the communal relationship here is excellent. In all top positions: Ministers, Secretaries, Generals, Doctors, Teachers, Artists, Painters, Players---you will find hindus, and it is as natural as there is water in the river; no question.

In the past, there were some untoward incidences, but gradually it has diminished. In those difficult days, I saw my own father---holding shotgun and cartige belt, and alone--asking hindu neighbors to stay at our yard, and telling them "Those goons will have to kill me before they do any harm to you".

Harijons have tremendously progressed here--in all spheres. Most hindus are respectful towards Islam.

Astoundingly, more often than not, it is Muslims (few ofcourse) who can not withstand Islam. Life is strange.

Thanks. I've already acknowledged the positive things i know abt bangladesh.

Similarly india's goal, our laws, our constitution is now part of our culture too. yes there are cases of complete law breakdown like Gujrat, but look at the many court conviction we've already had in gujrat. compare that to previous riots and u'll see we are making progress. are we there - not at all, we are still a poor developing country.

but our ideals give full equal rights to all, india is not a hindu country, we are more diverse and divided than any other place, yet u'll find how strongly we are bound by our ideals. so many indians on this forum, we don't care what language, religion, caste - we are the new educated india. lets be friends, thats the best we can hope for.

Why will WB bengalis want to join a bangladesh that has Islam as its state religion?

Ah! Only Jako knows the background. It was for Jako who is trying hard to stop an imaginary sort of Indo BD war. He is a nice young man from Kolkata with good knowledge of air warfare, I guess, but thought by many of this forum to be completely washed by the daily Anandabazar---who can make all sorts of sensational stories---mixing facts & myths & imaginantions in varying proportions---which irritate Bangladeshis when they find lack of ground reality.

Since he was talking of Greater India and claiming Indians are secular, I thought he should first agree to Greater Bangladesh as the logical 1st step, then expand at will. Bangladesh is non-communal.

There is another angle. In many instances, we found visiting WB artists talking tacitly about a joint land for Bengalis. While we go deeper, they mean Bangladesh to join WB. I am afraid, in that case, first casualty will be our mother tongue---for which we gain our rights by blood.

If that is important, why not WB join us to form Greater Bangladesh first.

I don't think you should indulge in this issue till we resolve the Greater Bangladesh issue first, and go for the rest of India together with Kolkata society.

All your points are well taken. My best wishes for this new generation Indians.

In case you are a Muslim, you must agree that Muslims do not belong to any particular country or land. Islam has no frontier, so a Muslim should not have any. A Muslim must live well with others---all around the globe---irrespective of language, cast or creed.

Islam fails only when Muslim fouls.

Straight sir ,even if dere was a chance of wb joining bd,look at some posts of al-zakir,i dont want to be kicked in by @ss in bd!!!(joking)........sir,in recent days i see many collaboration between wb nd bd artists, with travelling both ways, some bd bands are very popular here........dont you feel dat wb sd play a major role to improve da situation betwn india nd bd,bd can even pursue wb govt or by maintaing a good relation with da wb govt can reach delhi passively.........also once partitioned bengal wd find it difficult to reunite........in this 60 years wb has become one important limb of da indian democracy......india cant afford to lose a limb and wb wdnt want to seperate frm its body,as finding and uniting with another body wd be painfull and wd have after-effects......but this sdnt stop da hridoyer bondhon betwn da bengali brothers......thnx

BD should open up more to WB and Tripura people. If BD could offer more to WB and Tripura than India itself which I hope will be in near future then there might be a possibility of greater integration be it living in the same country or living in a different country. WB futrue lies in East not in West. Your grand children must have to look forward to BD for their own identity.
hey dude it's the other way around.Look at the map and see who is bigger and has the greater power.India like I said many times has to make some initiatives first.
