qamar1990 I didn't know you had respect for Gandhi
And you are right to feel sad. Whatever Indians may say about Jinnah, I admire him for his drive and ambition
The problem is that Gandhi worked really hard for India's Independence. He took a bullet from a Hindu fanatic accusing him of being partial to Muslims. And some Muslim leaders accused him of Being a Hindu conservative.
But he let his wife die because he did not believe in western medicine. There are accusations otherwise of young naked girls and him. A lot of Dalit leaders accused him of being patronising. Ambedkar-Gandhi rivalry was as acerbic as Jinnah-Nehru rivalry.

qamar1990 But a lot of young educated Indians hate Gandhi and do not think he is the father of the Nation or refuse to acknowledge him that way. A lot of them see him as what was wrong about India and Indians. Weak, pacifist and easy to be pushed around.
Their vision of India in the Modern era should not be pushed around. So Gandhi does not figure into that image. Gandhi also compromised a lot with Muslims during partition.
The RSS hated the guy. It is distressing for me that there is no longer a balanced take on Gandhi. That this RSS view, the people responsible for his murder it's their view that is taking over the imagination of young Indians.
Gandhi was a flawed human being. But I recognise that he was a symbol that was a catalyst for Independence. IMO, no one can tarnish the guy's image.
I am in agreement to this.
