Second such incident in seven days: Jets allegedly strike airport neighboring Assad's palace.

An Arab news outlet identified with the Syrian government said on Wednesday morning that Israeli jets struck targets at a Damascus airport.

According to the pan-Arab Al-Mayadeen television channel, the jets targeted the Mezzeh Military Airport in Damascus, which neighbors President Bashar Assad's palace. Loud explosions in the Mezzeh neighborhood were also reported on social media. Al-Arabiya, meanwhile, reported that fires broke out at the airport and that emergency vehicle sirens were heard in the area.

There were no official reports on the matter by the Syrian administration or Syrian or Lebanese state media. A Facebook page identified with President Bashar Assad's regime, "Damascus Today," noted that the incident was the result of "internal malfunction."

* Assad openly supports and arms terrorists who blow up buses and markets full of civilians. That is sneaky and criminal.

Bombing well guarded enemy military target is not sneaky at all. We bombed them before civil war as well, for example reactor in Deir ez Zor.

Targets appear to have been weapons intended for Hezbollah: link. As I pointed out a few days ago, under UNSCR 1701 (Clause 15) U.N. member-states (not just Israel) have the right to employ their air and naval forces to prevent Hezbollah weapons resupply including the personnel involved in such resupply or weapons training.

If the Al-Assad regime really lived up to its propaganda as defenders of Arabs (after all he claims to be an Arab nationalist) he would first and foremost start with reconquering Syrian territory (Golan Heights) that his useless father lost to Israel. Releasing Islamists from prisons during the uprising, looking silently when ISIS took over most of Eastern Syria etc. Or supporting terror in Iraq from 2003 onwards until 2011 when the same people started attacking him and Syria. That's sneaky.

Before the trolls here start talking about minorities, Christian Arabs (as if their lives are more worth than Muslim Arabs or Atheist Arabs or green-eyed Arabs etc.) pre-Assad family regime, Christians and other minorities lived even better under Sunni (majority rule) and Syria was a more free and secular country back then.

Anyway his time is on loan but the idiot could have stepped back early into the conflict. Would have saved the lives of many innocent people and saved Syria first and foremost.

If not for OUTSIDE forces and outside help he would long ago had been toppled. So much for "popular support", lol.
