The newer CH-53K batch of 20 also has serious dust intake issues for the engines in Israeli conditions which Lockheed has not resolved.

From what i've read, the helicopter made an emergency landing (either malfunction or hit in the air) and was then targeted by mortar fire from the Hamas. One Israeli paratrooper was injured due to shrapnel and was taken to hospital.

From the images it appears someone took his time to destroy it completely. In the absence of massive casualties, it would appear to have been deliberately destroyed to prevent capture before troops evacuated.
