Israel Takes Gaza Fight to Next Level

Haan, but that’s what I m actually saying that Israel is so clever that they have armed and trained civilians they look like civilians but actually they are part of Israel army.

I believe that if they (Israelis) were oppressed in Europe than they should have shifted to Palestine as guests. But they captured their land that’s wrong.

Palestinians were innocent people and you can clearly see their frustration in suicide bombings. Because nobody is raising voice for their rights every one thinks that Israel is innocent (because of their clever policies).

Israeli adults are part of the army. what about their children? are they part of the army? is killing them justified? what about pregnant women, old people and handicapped citizens? these are all people who come under fire when Hamas fires rockets into israel.

The palestinian cause is just. Its Hamas who are making it look bad. They make palestinians look like terrorists. and the fact is that the world despises terrorists. so the world turns a blind eye whenever israel doesn anything coz according to the world israel is just killing terrorists.

the palestinians best hope for independance is non-violence policy. they have been trying to gain independance by violence for the last 41 years and so far aside from suffering 1000s of deaths and inflicting minor casualities on israel they are further from that goal than ever before. if they dont cease the violence, they will soon lose the little support they have. then it is only a matter of time before israel can wipe out palestinians from palestine and the world wont give a damn coz to the world every palestinian would be a terrorist. the fact that they are muslims dont help either, since the world sees their war as a jihad than one for independance.

on the other hand if they become non-violent, then the world will see that they are the victims. if India can gain independance from britain by non-violence, palestine can gain independance from israel.

I believe that the Palestinians were hostile to the Jews from the moment they began to land in Palestine. This probably sowed the seeds for the enmity.

The Palestinians need to learn from their enemy and organize themselves better. they need to become self sufficient in things like power, water, electricity and improve their economy.

Did you know that Palestine gets its electricity from an Israeli power plant? How pathetic is that?
They need to make themselves a little more useful and productive before they think about challenging israel.

Oh, and for a start, they need to stop committing harakiri both literally, and by firing cheap rockets into Israel all the time and giving them an excuse to attack.

But how can you identify true civilians? Even Israel having the best of technology cannot fully assure the safety of innocent civilians, so how can Palestinians do this?

Stealth Assassin,
I think the trouble started when Jews declared the state of Israel.

The fight is older than that. Riots occured frequently, and resulted in the alienation of the Jewish community. This also fuelled zionism and led to demands for a purely jewish state.

its impossible to ensure zero civillian casuality. but the hamas are firing rockets into Sderot with intention of hitting civilians.

and how should they accomplish that? do you know that Israel has road blockades around every street, they also control what gets in & what goes out. They kind of have economical blockade going on

What ever they built gets bombed by Israel, no wonder they have to get electricity from Israel

OIC slams Israel’s offensive in Gaza, urges UNSC to take action

NEW YORK, Mar 5 (APP)- The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) has strongly condemned Israel’s military offensive in Gaza last week that killed over 120 people, urging UN Security Council to act against the Jewish state for posing a threat to world peace.

“The excessive and disproportionate use of force by the occupying power, including strikes by warplanes and ground artillery, and targeted extra-judicial killings, constitute grave breaches of international law including humanitarian and human rights law”, a statement from the OIC Group in New York said on Tuesday.

“The Council cannot remain silent and marginalized as this crisis escalates, undermining international law, the sanctity of civilian life and the vision of a just, lasting and comprehensive peace enshrined in the Council’s own resolutions,” it said.

The OIC was “deeply grieved and distressed” at the heavy civilian causalities including women, children and infants, and the trauma being endured by the Palestinian people in the face of widespread destruction.

“This wanton use of force, collective punishment and terrorising of civilian populations and other illegal actions of the occupying power including its targeting of ambulances and medical rescue teams have no justification whatsoever,” it said.

The statement asked the Security Council to act in a “credible, timely and effective manner in fulfillment of its Charter responsibilities to address the threat to international peace and security.”

“The international community must hold Israel responsible for this recent escalation and its dangerous consequences on the civilian population in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including on the fragile peace process, “ the statement said.

“It is high time to ensure respect for the rule of law by putting an end to the impunity enjoyed by Israel. The OIC supports the call by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon that incidents in which civilians have been killed or injured must be investigated and accountability must be ensured.

“The OIC expects urgent follow-up action in that regard.”

if that is so, how are Hamas getting guns and rockets?

Gaza conditions 'at 40-year low'

Gaza's humanitarian situation is at its worst since Israel occupied the territory in 1967, say UK-based human rights and development groups.
They include Amnesty International, Save the Children, Cafod, Care International and Christian Aid.

They criticise Israel's blockade on Gaza as illegal collective punishment which fails to deliver security.

Israel says its military action and other measures are lawful and needed to stop rocket attacks from Gaza.

Israel pulled its troops and settlers out of the Gaza Strip in 2005, but retains control over Gaza's airspace and coastline, and over its own border with the territory.

It tightened its blockade in January amid a surge in rocket attacks by Palestinian militants in Gaza.

Israel's Defence Ministry rejected the criticism in the report, blaming the Hamas militant group which controls Gaza.

"The main responsibility for events in Gaza is the Hamas organisation, to which all complaints should be addressed," a statement read.

'Disaster'

The groups' report, Gaza Strip: A Humanitarian Implosion, says the blockade has dramatically worsened levels of poverty and unemployment, and has led to deterioration in education and health services.

More than 1.1 million Gazans are dependent on food aid and of 110,000 workers previously employed in the private sector, 75,000 have now lost their jobs, the report says.

"Unless the blockade ends now, it will be impossible to pull Gaza back from the brink of this disaster and any hopes for peace in the region will be dashed," said Geoffrey Dennis, of Care International UK.

Last week Israeli forces launched a bloody and destructive raid in northern Gaza, in which more than 120 Palestinians - including many civilians - were killed.

Israel says the measures are designed to stamp out frequent rocket fire by Palestinian militants.

Recent rocket attacks have hit deeper into southern Israel, reaching Ashkelon, the closest large Israeli city to the Gaza Strip.

Occupying power

The UK-based groups agree that Israel has the right and obligation to protect its citizens, urging both sides to cease unlawful attacks on civilians.

But they call upon Israel to comply with its obligations, as the occupying power in Gaza, to ensure its inhabitants have access to food, clean water, electricity and medical care, which have been in short supply in the strip.

"Punishing the entire Gazan population by denying them these basic human rights is utterly indefensible," said Amnesty UK Director Kate Allen.

"The current situation is man-made and must be reversed."

Other recommendations from the groups include international engagement with the Hamas movement, which rejects Israel's legitimacy and has been shunned by Israel's allies, and the Fatah party of Palestinian West Bank leader Mahmoud Abbas.

"Gaza cannot become a partner for peace unless Israel, Fatah and the Quartet [the US and UN, Europe and Russia] engage with Hamas and give the people of Gaza a future," said Daleep Mukarji of Christian Aid.

watched BBC news today. The israelis claim that they have left palestine completely and that palestine is no longer occupied by israel.

SU-47,
I can see that you are a staunch advocate of peaceful Independence movements. From what I have learnt abt the Indian peace movement it wasn't nearly as successful as it is made out to be. We would probably still be singing "God save the Queen" if Britain hadn't become so financially weak after WW2.
