You know, apart from this PDF right wing crowd, there is a lot of sympathy for Palestinians in India. Especially among our left wingers.

That being said, leave aside Kashmir, India will not be liked by a majority of Muslim nations still.

India's political leaders see the relationship between then and Israel as merely transactional. They give us the weapons, and we give them Money.

They give us valuable input for our science and IT industries as well.

It's not like the days of Nehru and Gemal Nasser's days of the Non-Alignment movement.

India is forced to be friendly with Israel.

It wasn't that far off when Indians were ardent supporters of Palestine.

I envy India's diplomatic prowess. If only we could adopt this sort of thinking as well.

We can have EU type integration, our people are far too caught up on fixing each other and divisions because of petty differences. It's human nature though, you can observe the same behaviour here in Europe, only difference being that in Europe, no-one gives a damn, you're free to do what you wan't as long as your freedom doesn't cross mine.

That little difference in mentality is not genetic, the way things work don't allow for people to hold primitive mindsets and still progress as individuals.

A lot of this can be traced back to the civil liberties granted to people here, Britain also is fully globalized. People from all walks of life and all over the world are present and functioning members of society. Some Muslims I've met here do say the kind of things you mentioned, those men tend not to venture out their very small and tightly nit communities, they find work within their own communities, thus many forego the need to learn the language too.

Don't worry though, as long as South Asia develops at a steady rate, with civil liberties in tact, and adequate political stability, we'll be like Europe soon enough.

I doubt anyone here supports Israel's heavy handed handling of Palestinians, there's simply no denying that it causes unnecessary death and destruction. But we all need to clearly define where we stand, too many Israelis I've debated with have often mistook me for someone who doesn't support the state of Israel's right to exist, and they are right to doubt my views because they don't see anything else from Muslims. The same kind of thinking can be applied to Palestinains, their methods and their rights.

From 1948 all the way to 1967, the state of Palestine was pretty big.

Palistinian state has been eating poison of militancy from day-1, just like today in Gaza.

Now that the matter is settled as far as Israel's long term existence.

Let's get down to making sure israel does the right thing and uses right plan. And gets the civilians out of Gaza before starting the ground ops to clear the Hamas and other terrorists from Gaza.

Let's make sure that civilians in W. Bank are safe and in peace. This means their life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness is protected for a long long time. Not as adversary, but as a protector of human rights.

Israel has probably the best record in the region when it comes to protecting minorities within its borders.

It is time now to expand that concept a bit farther.
