I don't know where you've got that information from, however, the amount of money you have in savings ISN'T an indicator of wealthiness, in fact, saving a lot of money is PURE STUPIDITY, and you calling people who don't save money poor is also pure stupidity. The dollar is influenced by inflation, hell, if you were to buy an item in 1990 for example for 10$, it would cost you 19.28$ today! people invest their money in stocks, houses, gold and silver, cryptocurrencies. Your survey might have simply asked a bunch of people "How much money you got in your bank account?" and not "How much are your assets worth?" around 14% of Americans are at and under the poverty line and the majority of those 14% are minority populations, not white. That's a very low number of citizens, you know nothing about economics.
