Rawalpindi - February 19, 2013:

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Tilla Ranges, today, in connection with Field Firing and Battle Inoculation exercises.

The exercises are aimed at simulating battlefield conditions to train the soldiers in a realistic environment. PAF aircraft and major weapon systems including artillery, provided live fire support to training maneuvers conducted by mobile troops. COAS appreciated the professional skills and motivation of troops involved in the exercises.

Earlier, on arrival, Chief of Army Staff was received by Lieutenant General Maqsood Ahmad, Commander Lahore Corps.

23rd March 2013 Parade has been called off due to the Forces being severely active and highly deployed on the Western borders and due to Security reasons. 23rd March the Pakistan Resolution Day marked on from 1940, Parade being held since independence celebrated together by forces and Nation as Resolution Day, The Parade was last held in 2007.

Rawalpindi - May 6, 2013: General Sir David Richards, Chief of Defence, United Kingdom, called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. He remained with the Chairman for some time and discussed matters related to mutual interests. General Richards, who is on his fare well visit, applauded the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces of Pakistan in the war against terror. The situation of the region with an emphasis on Afghanistan was also dilated upon. "

Rawalpindi - June 3, 2013:
Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, hosted Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Naval Staff and Chief of Air Staff for discussions during Army War Game (Exercise AZM-E-Nau 4), which is currently underway at National Defence University, Islamabad. This Army War Game is the culmination of the series of such exercises and aims at validation and crystallization of operational plans prepared in view of the emerging threat environment. Operational plans of Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy are also being finalized in close coordination with the Army. The War Game will continue for two weeks.

Rawalpindi - June 8, 2013:
Pak-US-Afghanistan Trilateral meeting between military commanders was held today at Rawalpindi. It was attended by General Joseph F. Dunford, Commander ISAF, General Sher Mohammad Karimi, CGS ANA and COAS General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

The three discussed matters of mutual interest with particular emphasis on coordination measures at Pak-Afghan Border and Standing Operating Procedures put in place to improve the Border control.

History Made - Lady Officers of Pakistan Army go Air Borne

Pakistan Army, in another landmark achievement, successfully completed the first ever Lady Officers Para Trooping Course at Para Training School, Peshawar.Besides challenging physical training, Para jumping course involved training in exit, flight and landing techniques. The paratroopers are taught to control their parachutes while descending and to carryout emergency measures such as untwisting their rigging lines, taking the necessary action upon collision with another parachutist and landing in water.

In this connection, a simple but impressive ceremony was held at Tarbella where Lady Officers were awarded with the Para Wings (Insignia) by Major General Abid Rafique, General Officer Commanding Special Service Group.A total of 24 Lady Officers of Pakistan Army successfully completed 3 weeks Basic Air Borne course at Parachute Training School Peshawar.

Captain Sadia was the first lady officer who jumped from MI-17 helicopter and marked the history whereas Captain Kiran Ashraf was declared the best paratrooper of the batch.The chief of the Army Staff congratulated all the lady officers and their training staff on successful completion of training and valued their level of high morale.
