TEHRAN: Iranian top military commander said Tuesday that Iran and Pakistan are seeking to jointly manufacture defence equipment, Press TV reported.

Major General Mohammad Baqeri, chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, made the remarks following a meeting with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Iran and Pakistan are working to jointly make defence products and present them as a joint achievement of the Muslim nations, Baqeri was quoted as saying.

In the meeting, Hussain and Baqeri underlined the importance of the Tehran-Islamabad ties in different areas, particularly in the defence sector.

On Tuesday, Baqeri also held a meeting with Chief of Pakistani Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

During the talks, the two sides discussed topics including military education, pilot training, military drills and contacts between the two countries' defence industries, he added.

On Monday, the Iranian top commander blasted the United States for seeking insecurity in the Middle East and is against the restoration of peace to this region.

"America tops the list of countries that seek to create insecurity in the region and is against the restoration of security to the region," Baqeri said.

Baqeri arrived in Islamabad Monday for an official visit at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

This could be INTERESTING, if it doesn’t merely turn out to be propaganda or a symbolic gesture by both sides.

I suspect China may also be involved somehow, by providing ToT through pakistan military Who then passes it on to Iran they can wash their hands and play dumb to avoid pressure from the US.

Iran is well advanced in missile technology as like Pakistan. But a bit ahead from Pakistan in laser technology. Pakistan can simply sell Jf17 to them. Making new weapons would be much better by using each other's facilities available. Lacking in any field could be easily covered by learning through each other

To big of a step to take now. our relationships and interests at this moment are to far apart. There are deep cracks between us just being papered over by well wishers by both sides. Never going to happen.If pakistan cant even build part of a pipeline to provide it with energy it badly needs for fear of angering the us,then it sure as hell isnt going to risk angering the us even more by building weapons with iran,not only that but by working with a us vassal state iran would potentially be giving the us samples of its weapons and technology,its a completely idiotic idea,totally unfeasible.

I think if this turns out to be legit it will be more of a ToT deal. For example, Iran provides UAV technology (like it did to russia) and in exhange recieves ToT aircraft engine or even JF-17 design.

Just depends. It also gives China an opportunity to transfer technology to Iran through Pakistan.

US really can’t stop ToT deals as it’s hard to prove that Iran got it directly from a country like a physical arms deal.
