Preparations are underway to inaugurate the Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Mor to the New Islamabad International Airport on March 23.


The Peshawar Mor Central Station will function as the designated pick-up point.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) had previously completed the 27km road from Peshawar Mor to the New Islamabad Airport in March last year for this purpose.

The total cost incurred was Rs16 billion.

Further, a “Capital Mass Transit Authority" will be set up to oversee the management and the service of the buses. The authority will be constituted under an act of parliament, with full control vested in it under the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

At the starting point of the route, a shuttle bus service will also operate from three different points in Islamabad to this central station. A total of 30 metro buses will run on this route, which will start daily from 7am to 11pm. Due to the new route, this time frame is predicted to increase.

The fare on this route will be Rs30 per passenger.

The Capital Development Authority is planning to limit the use of private transport in Islamabad to reduce pollution.

Recently, the Chairman of CDA, Dr. Naveed Iftikhar met a well-known urban policy specialist to discuss the prospects of making the capital territory pedestrian-friendly.

Reportedly, the policy expert discussed the need for adequate signposting, frequent awareness campaigns, as well as a thorough analysis of pedestrian needs. He highlighted the lack of facilities and infrastructure that are necessary to promote pedestrianism in the city.

The chairman stated that the excessive use of private transport is the main culprit behind the increased air pollution in Islamabad, and discussed the enforcement of paid parking and the launch of a bus service that will start operations in March 2022. He also apprised the policy specialist regarding the creation of a map for pedestrian use.

The expert stated that an intricate strategy is required in order to limit the use of private transport in the capital city, and offered to assist CDA in its formulation and implementation

Can't provide a proper Local Transport system for Twin Cities since 50 years but want to lessen private Transport 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Cabinet Approves the Establishment of Special Technology Zone in Islamabad

The cabinet has approved the establishment of the Special Technology Zone on 120 acres of land in Islamabad.

Briefing media about the decision of the Federal Cabinet, which met in Islamabad today with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Syed Shibli Faraz, said the cabinet approved the release of Rs. 219.30 million to the Ministry of Health to operationalize the recently constructed Isolation Hospital and Infections Treatment Center in Islamabad.

The Minister said that the cabinet was briefed regarding the continuation of the anti-encroachment drive in the Federal Capital. He said that illegal structures will be removed within six months.

Construction of the main building of Information Technology (IT) Park in Islamabad will start next month, officials of the Ministry of Science and Technology have confirmed.

According to details, all necessary arrangements have been completed, and the tendering process is in the final stage. Capital Development Authority (CDA) has already approved the design of the building, and MoITT has already obtained approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

All work related to electricity connections, drain channels, and procurement has been completed. Boundary wall construction and land payment have already been done. All work is completed from the Pakistani side, and on the Korean side, contract awarding is in process, which will be completed in the next couple of weeks.

IT Park Islamabad will consist of twelve storeys (2 underground and 10 above) and will stretch over an area of 66,893 square meters. It will provide office space to over 120 startups, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and ancillary facilities like testing laboratories, classrooms, industry-academia linkage center, auditorium, etc

Either I am too sleepy right now or the designer mixed up G-9 and G-10.

Anyways, rather than this interchange, a much pressing need is for an interchange at the intersection of Faqeer Aipee Road with Kashmir Highway, and then another at G-11 signal. That signal has a huge mess in the evenings, and it is just gonna get worse.

But I guess that if you are going to make 10th avenue, then might as well make the interchange along with it, but the formerly mentioned interchanges are much more important IMO.

Hopefully the one under construction at Aabpara also gets completed fast. That was also a need of the hour.

should have gone for a skyscraper, 10 storey building is too short

Can't provide a proper Local Transport system for Twin Cities since 50 years but want to lessen private Transport 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
no pedestrian bridges either. even the stations of new metro from G9 to Airport are horribly placed.

Exactly. I don't know how stupid do you have to be to do this stuff.

Just look at the new u-turns in front of F-9 park facing F-10. They closed them off within 1 week, and we are back to how we were originally, and wasted so much money on that. And, with the fish eye design, and cars parked on the side of the road, and those god awful cat eyes the size of bricks, the mess is even bigger than before.

Abhi likhwa lo mere say, they are gonna make this 10th Avenue interchange, and then close off the Faqeer Aipee signal for turning traffic.
