Islamabad to Get Pakistan’s First Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)

I am not interested in having an endless useless conversation with you. If you are fine with not having basic necessities like water , and want to be happy with some fency new toys with very limited utility at the cost of already deficit current account and local jobs then keep enjoying.

Let agree to disagree. But I feel that if we keep thinking like that then nobody can stop us from destruction. People like IK who are ready to face the reality and has a vision to take tough decision will be thrown out of the system and others will take over to continue the path of destruction.

How long you think it can continue that at one part of the country people has to stand in line for 2 hours to get few buckets of water and in another part you have automated traffic control system that too generated on the tax money mostly earn from the area where there is no basic necessity such as water, light, gas and residential properties ...

For how long?

ANyways that was my last reply as people here are arrogant to accept the reality and will keep on arguing for the sake of argument.

I will answer your question if you reply to my question which I asked you first but you did not reply yet. I repeat what is the price of this system?

Where did I say Karachi is a poor city?

You have been totally illogical, emotional and narrow minded in this discussion. Whenever you're asked to provide some facts & figures, you start changing the goal post.

No city or country can be rich or poor just because of its resources. A lot has to do with the corruption and mismanagement. Rather these two factors can turn and have turned many resource rich countries into poor hellholes.

Taking your logic, are you saying Pakistan is a poor country despite all the natural resources it has? why do you think Pakistan is poor?

PPP and MQM are two of the most corrupt parties and the latter has always been involved in violence, killings, kidnapping, ransom..who sat Baldia town factory on fire? So they have turned the beautiful city of Karachi into this situation and now you have 18th amendments under which provinces have more resources and autonomy than the centre.

.
CDA first should stop Islamabad turning into trash before going on fancy adventures.

From where do CDA generates its own income? Can you please let me know how they can generate enough income (other than through taxes) to maintain and develop such a huge city ?

So you are saying that financial hib of Pakistan do not have enough money to supply tap water to residents is not because of financial miss planning but Karachi must be a poor city ...

Hats off to this argument ...

CDA generate revenues by selling plots in Islamabad. Islamabad also get allocation from budget as per population.

Karachi real estate market is atleat 3 times more expensive than islamabad and the rate and the volume of population and residential area is much bigger than CDA.

Are you suggesting CDA has no allocation from federal budget ? Do u have any evidence of that ?

Tell me the benefit you are going to get from these imported peoducts against soaring current account deficit and rising unemployment ...

I am not against development but against imports.

Had this been done through a local peoject even expensive would have been much better than purchase from others.

Where does our priority lies ?

Solving external debt crisis?
Solving current account deficit issue?
Reducing unemoloyment ?

Or

Traffic ( kindly note that import of this system has direct impact on current account deficit and jobs)

Well when you don't have an iota of facts with you then such response is the only option left for you.

Talk about priorities. I think CDA and the ISB can make do with hiring a few more traffic cops than venture into such stuff when there are other critical issues at hand.

Right now the people are also suffering from lack of water in several sectors of Islamabad and have to request tankers.

Look at their performance and look at what the housing societies have achieved in past 20 years.

CDA is a corrupt institution that just isn't really interested in what was its main purpose.

If it was then instead of bahria town, DHAs and countless societies developed by private sector, these plots would have been under CDA sectors.

Instead they just like to sit on their sorry bums. They have failed to develop and expand ISB relative to the growth in population of the city.

Such system only works when traffic laws to implement with financial impacts on violators and besides steps to be taken for improvement of social behaviour of the public; else the money spent will go down the drains and just considered to be a 'commission' raising project.

Islamabad to Get Pakistan’s First Intelligent Transportation System

For the first time ever in Pakistan, an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is set to be introduced by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ease transportation-related issues. The system will be installed at the Islamabad Expressway from Zero Point to Rawat and the traffic will be monitored through this system particularly at the intersections.

Under this system, CCTV cameras, with static and Pan-Tilt & Zoom (PTZ), will be set up after every three (03) kilometers with a coverage of 500 meters along with the establishment of a Traffic Control Center (TCC). The TCC will be linked with field devices having backlight LED Video wall screens, video wall controller, video storage and core network switch.

One of the major components of ITS will be the electronic variable message signs, that will seek to boost road safety and decrease congestion with the help of real-time data on the Expressway including incident management, driver information, strategic diversion and roadwork. Internally, the ITS will be hooked with fiber optic cables which would be laid across the Expressway.

ITS will be able to identify cars and also count them and help manage traffic smoothly during peak hours. Another vital component will be the speed control, the Point to Point (P2P) will be used to identify speed limits through which the average speed for the points would be calculated. Other than this, weigh stations will be set up to inspect car weights alongside the Expressway and E-fine collection system will be established. High power gel batteries will be used as backup to counter any breakdown in the electricity.

To keep the general public in the loop about the traffic at the Expressway, a web portal and mobile app will be developed as well. It is important to note that the ITS is to be established for the first time in an Urban metropolis. After being set up, the system will smoothen traffic flow, boost safety level, curb the environmental impact and will increase quality and cleaner life in the city

Awesome!
