I don't understand the point of that example. Muslims or not, relations between countries are no longer religion driven. Religion could be a commonality (just like language and culture w.r.t India) between your countries but Bangladesh is lot more pragmatic in its foreign relation than you guys are. They see their interest first.

Man you have a weird notions about diplomacy, history and basic human decency. The US and the UK have the best diplomatic relations out there. I don't understand the point of that example. Muslims or not, relations between countries are no longer religion driven.

There is a multitude of reasons for establishing diplomatic relations, having the same religion (= the same values and a similar culture) is a major reason for that. There is a reason why Western embassies send greetings for Holi or Eid ul Fitr. Why are they doing this (not a fan of it though), when religion is not a major player in politics and society?

religion is going to become a bigger factor in the world as time goes on. islam is going to become the largest religion worldwide officially in the next few decades. religion helps a lot in people-to-people interaction and contact. when governments fall and the people make their own government, naturally religion will play a factor. not only that, islam is going to become a bigger factor in india. in 200 years of so, maybe earlier, islam is projected to become the largest religion in india, and when that happens, things will change in india whether hindus like it or not.

Bangladesh see their interest first.
