Besides issues of royal inheritance, there really is no existential threat for Brunei, in all of its history. I doubt that will change anytime soon. And as a country of less than 700,000, Brunei will remain fairly stable, well developed --- compared to its immediate neighbors.

What is so 'evil' about them? Just because they have a different religion as us, a different governing style as us does not necessarily mean they are evil. Let's be objective , shall we? Has Brunei declared war on countries? Has Brunei initiated or propagated a militant ideology to destabilize neighbors? I think not. Their people and leadership may espouse a conservative law for its own society --- but how does that affect Japan , China or any other foreign powers? That is the internal affairs of Brunei -- and as far as I know Brunei is relatively stable , with very low crime rates.

Let me put it into perspective. If Singapore has a law that legalizes caning of those found guilty of public disorder / littering --- hey its Singaporean internal affairs and Singaporean law --- then what's with the opposition for Bruneian law. The point is --- when in Singapore , obey the law in Singapore. So the same applies for Brunei --- when in Brunei obey the law in Brunei. Same as in Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.

Remember, in Indonesia --- if you are found guilty of carrying illegal paraphernalia -- you are executed by firing squad. In Singapore, you are hung by your neck till dead. In Japan, you are hung by your neck till dead. In China, you are executed by firing squad (or lethal injection).

Point is --- when in Rome --- do as the Romans do --- and obey the law of Rome.


Its not up for us Japanese or Chinese to be criticizing the laws of sovereign nations.
