Just imagine Iranians having a drone like the predator with rockets. Wouldn't they use it to save Assad's behind? Knowing the Iranians and how much they like to brag and show off, they certainly would have used it to show the world. Unfortunately for Iranian pride, in photoshop and with paper models Iran produces topnotch equipment but in reality they have to do it with this:

They can produce top notch equipment except that they are too over eager to match every one and try to fake jumps over the rungs of the tech ladder. Iran had/has excellent programs like the Shafagh that are sadly sidelined in the news for Fibreglass Car stereo equipped Stealth Air Craft and replicas of drones that went down due to a Sycamore Leaf type slow decending spin due to the design characteristics of flying wings.

The ISIS getting the drone does nothing more than brings up loss of Prestige for Iran. But Drones are funny things and problems with them are not unusual. The predator had one crash per month when first deployed in Afghanistan.

but as i told you earlier for 100 times , and you apparently don't like to listen , Projects like shafagh are being followed pretty seriously .

you cannot just wake up and produce a new fighter jet , it takes enormous amounts of time and effort . unfortuanately only people who are from countries which actually manufacture fighters can understand that .

Oh I listen, just dont find your argument of any logical or scientific worth.

Fighter aircraft can come about fairly quickly if the leadership will is there to focus on them and not a Fibreglass model.. but since Iran has decided to be happy with doing nothing more than home built copies of existing US designs..or Radio controlled Japanese Anime looking type aircraft.. you cannot understand that.Sometimes I think the damage "Achemed did not Ijad" caused to the Iranian R&D psyche is equivalent to that of the great purge of Stalin.

And yes, it is still a loss of prestiege regardless of the antique nature of the drone. The ISIS will use it as a media statement that they attacked the great "Shi'a" and "Bidd'ah" Devil. That in itself will reflect on the morale of ISIS and to an extent those that they attack like barbarians.

the McDonnell company started to work on F-15 concept in late 1950s , their proposal was accepted in 1967 and it first flew in 1972 BUT it entered service in 1976

Please man , we're all grown ups here ....

for any country including the US , it takes a huge amount of time (a couple of decades) to finalize a fighter project

Till 2011 there were still needs to update the Radar and Avionics on the aircraft..they even had to go back to the F-5 type intakes because the square ones did not work out(perhaps because the reverse engineered J-85 engines had airflow issues) . I dont need Farsi to gauge exactly where Iran stands by the rather bad reporting of its own state news agencies.

So if there was news on the Shafagh.. there is little proof that it has done more than anything other than be news on the local farsi media. Again, the idea of secrecy would make sense if Iran did not "reveal" the Qaher.. but the fact that they did means only two things.. both of which are bluffs; Either the Qaher is a distraction to hide the progress of more sensible projects like the Shafagh.. or that the Shafagh too has fallen to serious delays which needs fake weapons like the Qaher to distract..I am hoping that it is the former.
