ISIS carry out attack on Egyptian Navy vessel

Tell me again how a small patrol vessel with a small crew and one weapon system (.50 cal) was supposed to take on terrorists armed with Metis ATGMs?

Keeping in mind that an offshore patrol vessel is only tasked with scout or recce for small scale criminal operations and not for combat.
So the location of this group doesn't bother you whatsoever ?

Well gave the terrorists weapon to use it in syria and they thank you by using it against yourself.

And honestly egypt need to reevaluate its prority foght terrorist inside its own country or use its navy and airforce to fight yemeni civilians.

Egyptian navy is fighting Yemeni civilians while the innocent Iran and SAA along with their angle-like Afghani, Lebanese and Iraqi militias are fighting the evil powers in Syria.

Egypt never gave weapons to anyone in syria.

Well their benefactors did, didn't they?

Does Egypt have the ability to interfere in its allies affairs? No, they are sovereign nations that make their own decisions. Decisions that the current Egyptian regime does not support.

No, apart from the Urban areas and their surroundings in Northern Sinai which is the area that ABM/SP is predominantly active and contained (i.e Elshiekh Zewaid and Rafah) it is incredibly hard to police the movement of people due to the nature of the areas topography and its size.

You simply can not send patrols of any kind into the desert to search for thin air. Losses will happen, they already have, that's a given. But in the end they haven't made a dent in three years, a few armoured vehicles, second generation tanks, patrol craft, and a few hundred personnel are nothing in relation to the size of the Egyptian Armed Forces and the sheer manpower it can bring to the fore.

ABM/SP are fighting a losing game regardless of the Egyptian Armed Forces' frailties when it comes to asymmetric warfare/COIN.

They certanly have the choise of using their army in fighting terrorists rather than sending them to help the most expensive army in middle east bolster their ego against granaries.

What do you think that the Egyptian army is doing in Sinai and have been doing for a few years now?

Also what has this thread to do with KSA and where exactly are Egyptian soldiers present in Yemen or KSA currently? Please educate us.

Understand that KSA and Egypt are allies. I know that your (read Mullahs) only real allies are your terrorist proxies but not everyone operates this way.

The Egyptian Armed Forces has been fighting a brutal war with IS in the Sinai for the past three years. The forces it has deployed to the Sinai far outweigh any forces deployed to SA or the Yemen.

Seriously, a squadron/tactical fighter wing (12-24 aircraft) isn't that large a contribution when the EAF operates around 250 fourth generation aircraft and 2-4 naval vessels aren't a massive contribution considering the Egyptian Navy has a fleet of around 220 naval vessels of varying sizes and capabilties at its disposal.

The fight in the Sinai is defeinitely the priority but the Egyptian Armed Forces still has the capacity to conduct simultaneous deployments while continuing its annual training program and conducting or taking part in large scale excercises abroad or at home.

And your mistake begins here. They start like this and eventually evolve into a bigger and more vicious monster. I suggest clamping down on the Saudi funded madrassahs which the ISIS are crawling out from.

The ships you send to yemen could defend themselves against such attacks quite prsfectly not like the boat you assigned there which are totally defenseless againsrt such missiles.

Honnestly it was better you assigned detection to drones and hitting them to your airforce not sending small and slow patrol boats which did not expect such attacks . They at least must have been warned about existence of such weapons at the disposal of DAESH at the area.

Just because they haven't made a dent doesn't mean the forces being deployed aren't significant or the operations being conducted are small in scale.

Either way the Egyptian forces stationed there and the Egyptian people are in this fight for the long haul and both are aware that casualties will be significant.

Ships of the same class are still deployed in the Med and in the Red Sea by the Egyptian Navy within or beyond Egypt's territorial waters.

However, they operate far outside of the shore given their combat capabilities whereas patrol craft more suitable for the coast guard (which has been neglected in favour of the Navy by the Interior Ministry and the Defence ministry) operate at a hundred metres (more or less) from the shore conducting small scale operations such as recce/scout against criminal operations or quick response to SOS calls etc.

The patrol boat was not sent anywhere. It was following its preplanned route and then contacted (some say the boat contacted the terrorists when they spotted them) by the terrorists and struck by the ATGM.

Usually if a target is identified by recce or through intelligence work Apaches are sent in to do the job this wasn't one of those situations.
