ISLAMABAD: Pakistans Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had absolutely no role in the Mumbai attacks and attempts to link the service and its ex chiefs to the incident is a crude smear attempt, authoritative sources here on Sunday reiterated.
The sources said that the compensation case filed in a New York court was against the alleged perpetrators and masterminds i.e. Hafiz Saeed, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and others while the inclusion of ISI and its DGs Ahmed Shuja Pasha and Nadeem Taj was only done to smear the agency and get it declared a terrorist organization.
There is no rocket science involved in the issue. The ISI and its DGs have had no role whatsoever in the Mumbai incident as regularly reported by the Indian media.
The sources appreciated the US role in sorting out the issue.
We are glad that the US government prudently supported the claim of the Pakistan government. It is a US decision that we admire and appreciate, the sources said, adding that there was no need to fabricate **** and bull stories on the subject.
