Islamabad, Pakistan – Economic privileges accorded to Pakistan’s elite groups, including the corporate sector, feudal landlords, the political class and the country’s powerful military, add up to an estimated $17.4bn, or roughly 6 percent of the country’s economy, a new United Nations report has found.
Released last week, the UN Development Programme’s (UNDP) National Human Development Report (NHDR) for Pakistan focuses on issues of inequality in the South Asian country of 220 million people

Things add up. A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon you are talking real money. But the fundamental problem can't be wished away. The productive capacity of Pakistan just can't produce enough tradeables for necessary imports.

Ok, you do realize that there is a requisition for this. Help me with the following:
1- BPS 17 for what dept?
2: Field duty of what kind?
3: Requisitions (remember these are requested annually, so what you are seeing now would be last year's requisition and that was in a prior government's role). But kindly post a requisition so we can see what "wrong doing" has been done. I am not saying there is no corruption, that's in our DNA as a nation. We like to pay bribe than paying Taxes! That culture goes up and down everywhere. But let's see this specific case.

So they secured $ 3.4 billion from KSA. Now engaging the IMF shareholders vs. the lower staff speaks well for Pakistan. It also means no default. By passing the entire body and engaging shareholders also means your "pull" and it's a good thing. KSA also committed more stability measures. So once things get moving, Pakistan then needs to start progressing forward. Hopefully there is no one to derails the policies this time so whoever gets elected, can work and focus only on Pakistan's growth.

I avoid politics like people avoid COVID! But your post was nothing but politics. I am almost pushed to ask now, did the PDM piss off the Chinese, the Saudis, the Europeans and the Americans? It was like tooth and nails fight to get the IMF to issue funds. Did PDM not fulfil contractual obligations that Mr. Khan has signed in 2019 but didn't put the higher prices in and therefore defaulted on an IMF contract for which they stopped the further funds? Or was it the PDM who hid billions in foreign funding? The 190 MILLION POUNDS (billions of rupees), PACE Apartments near Bahria town Lahore (I happen to have visited the construction site a few times) or was it the PDM who sold watches from the national treasury? Or was it the PDM under which, majority of IK cabinet (including Sheikh Rasheed) somehow acquired hundreds of acres of land for dirty cheap? Was it the PDM who was covertly telling IMF not to issue funds for Pakistan so it defaults? (anywhere else in the world, it would be called anti-State activity and a trial under treason)!

I have a very long list on ALL major politicians, trust me! The moral of the story? No one's clean in Pakistan. There is no difference outside of Social Media Trends between IK / SS/ Diesel, etc. BTW, I was a die hard IK fan until I started to see "proofs" of corruption. Don't ask me more please.

Now, since Pakistan WAS on the verge of default, the gov't knows, if they mess up, they will be history. So there won't be much finagling of financials as PDM's political lives are at stake if you will. They are fighting their political survivor battle so they have to show improvement. Let's wait for a few months and see some changes coming.

Nope! No one said that. The crisis is averted for now. Now they have 1 full year to turnaround SOME economic indicators. If they don't, guess what? Many politicians political lives will end. Which is good. Our people instead of holding these politicians accountable, start becoming ghulams of these blood suckers, whether it be Bhuttos, NS or IK. No followers care to ask "what did you do for me and other Pakistanis". But due to the condition we are in, they now HAVE to make the economy move or be ready to lose their political career. If you dismiss the government of Pakistan and let IMF run the show, Pakistan will be in much better condition in just a few years. The problem now is, IMF is a passive investor. They just lend the money, and the crooks do crooked things.
