Korea War was different. China today has more responsibilities, it can't act as a rouge nation.
Korea war was limited to one front. This war that the "strategist" was talking was about taking whole of Asia in a multi-frontal war. Even the lone super-power can't take on the whole world alone. No country can fight the rest of the globe.

I don't consider China's action as "rogue" during Korean war. If anything, "rogue" behavior are exhibited by US all over the world, but they seem to be doing fine, at least diplomatically.
Multi front war is perfectly possible if wars can conclude fast enough, and are fought near your own production chain.
