Because both are equitable. Both are a matter of faith and religious beliefs. Both need to be dealt in the same way. People would not die of hunger if they do not eat Beef. It's not a matter of life and death. Same is with a sketch. However, both end up being a matter of life and death (cow vigilantes/goons killing people and terrorists killing people who draw cartoons). Both are equitable. Either respect both beliefs, or respect freedom to eat beef/draw sketch. Why selective "secularism"?

Most Hindus consume beef.So calm down.Beef ban was initiated long ago during Congress time.It had never been successful or followed.Those are just political terms used time to time...
Other side why the hell someone gets offended just by a sketch?Is your faith so weak that can be obliterated by a simple sketch?Grow up.People have been doing such offensive sketches since long be it from any religion.Why you people get offended so easily even over a Facebook post?

Beef eating people live everywhere, cow worshipping people live only in India. A hindu living in USA do not demand beef ban there (muslim living there would still demand all of USA to adhere to muslim belief).

There are so many things haram, that 90% of muslims would be harami if you go by the book strictly (no offence). And you expect everyone, living anywhere to respect those while you yourself do not do the same. You would not eat Jhatka meat, a hindu would happily eat halal meat. While you would eat meat coming out of a slaughterhouse (which is not halal if you go strictly by the halal methodology).

Point is: moderate and reciprocate.
