Is The Recovery Of Gilani's Son A Timely Staged Drama:--

Due to the F16 crisis---the friction is increasing between the two allies---heat is building up real fast---pakistani generals pressurizing the american generals in the arena real hard to do something---to force their politicians to change their minds---so the pressure buildup had reached to the maximum and something needed to be done before the valve blew up.

The friction is basically from Pakistani Military side. Had US taken out Fazlu, Khurasani or any other big tali then surely this would have eased the tensions created by F-16 issue.

Hi,

You understand if the rescue was staged---meaning the afghans / americans already knew Ali Gilani's location before hand---where he was held---.
True, they would have known his location. But how would they benefit from this? Was there any pressure from pakistan to rescue him? Remember he has been a hostage for 3 years not 3 days. I believe guy is too insignificant to cause any ripple in relations. If it was a military general or some one else close to power center may be there was a bargaining chip or some thing good to show.

. .
So they really do get pressurized by us now. Good thing if the case is so.

Hi,

Off course---their success in afg depends on pakistan. The U S senator's don't give a sh-it about the u s military casualties---they only want to win their elections.

The issue over here is that the U S govt offered the F16's under those conditions---it was not something that pakistan demanded on its own. That is how the deal progress.

The republicans dont want to see Obama's legacy succeed.

It is less about pakistan---but more about making Obama look bad---. If Obama fails in afg---he's got no legacy to leave behind---. The republicans will do their best that he fails.

This maybe a panic reaction by NDS/RAW after yesterday's news that they were caught with their pants down trying to attack hotels in Islamabad.

I don't know who this Ali Gilani is, but I wanna know is why is Pakistan so hung up on buying more F-16s?? JF-17 blk 2 and blk 3 is just as capable and cheaper :what:
Not buying :D
Hi,

That is what we all pakistanis are trying to figure out---what is this FETISH that the paf has with this aircraft.

Either in truth the JF 17 is a failure and is a flop---or the paf has some serious mental issues---.

There was no reason to confront the U S over this issue---or the paf has MONEY TO BUY whatever it wants---and just trying to call the U S BLUFF---.

They are throwing the gauntlet----letting the U S know to pick and chose sides----.

So---basically---pakistan is not scared of he U S at this moment---and making a statement---either put up or shut up.

The bottom line is---nobody---no poor third world nation has dared talked to the U S in this demanding manner before---so there is more to what meets the eye.

I think North Korea is one step ahead of Pakistan

JF-17 doesn't have the targeting pod such as sniper. It may take a few years to acquire them from China as Chinese platforms mature and it may take a few more years to get used to that combination. But as we wage a war today, the technology is required today......it has proved immensely helpful.

And then there is the psychology, if we get the F-16's we don't only get a dependable platform (in the eyes of a few), we also get the relief that we can still procure high end weapons from the US.

However, most of us agree that JF-17 must be the sole focus of attention for replacement of Mirages and Mig-derivatives with PAF. We need 250-300 JF-17's and perhaps another 200 Jets a mixture of SU-35/J-11/J-16/JH-2B & J-31's.

Dirty regional politics. But I don't know how much will it affect Pakistan.

I guess he is some Pakistani politician who went to Afghanistan some time ago and there he got abducted/kidnapped.

Hi,

He is the last prime minster's son----. He was campaigning for someone or himslef---when he was kidnapped from his home town in central punjab---which s central part of pakistan.

From there he got smuggled to different areas of pakistan---even thru stringet searches and road blocks by the police and ultimately ended up in afghanistan some 500 miles away.

Seems like Hollywood style kidnapping :cool:. Good that he is safe and returned to his family. By the way a lot stuff in this war on terror is even beyond Hollywood movies....I am getting some ideas already :coffee: .
