On this notable day of 25th December, this is the question that troubles my mind

Was MA Jinnah's legacy like that of Salahaddin?-------->defending Islam from wanton non-Islamic aggression

or was his legacy like that of Atatürk?--->fighting for the self-determination of the Indus people who happened to be Muslims or in a sense fighting for a reified version of Indus Nationalism

A bit of both. He would have worked for and liberated every one in India till his mind was changed by the divisory politics of Congress.
Yet, the feat of having carved out a country from both the Brits and Congress is no simple task.
That country happened to be on the lands of Indus and even encompassing the Indo-Scythian empire borders is let's just say how it was mean to be by fate or universe, which ever you prefer.

haha he was the guy who was working in the uk and living his own life after 1933.. Iqbal called him back.. it was Iqbal who was the real founder. i dont know why its jinnah jinnah jinnah. Iqbal was fighting in the mean time jinnah was working as a lawyer in the uk ..
i repeat Iqbal is and should official the founder of pakistan and not jinnah.

Iqbal was a reformist and a visionary. But visionaries don't fight nor win war. The commanders on the field do.
Jinnah took his vision and brought it to fulfillment. So you trying to discount his effort and trying to compare both is dumb tbh.

There is much merit in what you said. Like most things it was not one man effort. Iqbal indeed is the 'real founder'. As we know going back to 1930 Iqbal had enunciated for creation of a state composed of the Muslim majority provinces of the north west of the British Raj [that is on the Indus Basin] and then began to push for his project imploring Jinnah to come back from Britain and stop playing a 'gora' dressed in white suites with pet dogs poodling around him.

India is a continent of human groups belonging to different races, speaking different languages, and professing different religions [...] Personally, I would like to see the Punjab, North-West Frontier Province, Sindh and Baluchistan amalgamated into a single State. Self-government within the British Empire, or without the British Empire, the formation of a consolidated North-West Indian Muslim State appears to me to be the final destiny of the Muslims, at least of North-West India.

We must not forget that it was another pretend 'gora' living in Britain who gave the project the name "PAKSTAN" from the names of the provinces of the Indus basin.

At this solemn hour in the history of India, when British and Indian statesmen are laying the foundations of a Federal Constitution for that land, we address this appeal to you, in the name of our common heritage, on behalf of our thirty million Muslim brethren who live in PAKSTAN—by which we mean the five Northern units of India, Viz: Punjab, North-West Frontier Province (Afghan Province), Kashmir, Sindh and Baluchistan.

However we must not dismiss Jinnah because he had the political gravitas to put this project completion. And he sure did after ups and downs. I do think though that Jinnah's role has been exaggerated and Iqbal/Rehmat have had their roles reduced in Pakistan's public's understanding.

Ataturk was a secular and probably anti Islam
Quaid wanted Islamic Country

Rubbish. You might as well thank Sir Charles Napier for having created the 2NT with more basis.

who was that gora
who said the second paragraph in red
Iqbal's poetry is not taught in our schools properly else our students will become enlightened and will come out with a wider mental horizon and not just mere goats.. i have read more about iqbal.. and its a dishonesty with iqbal not to call him the founder. Sadly, much of our people dont question any thing they are taught.
thank you for mentioning the details. I like the name pakistan .

The term two-nation theory was first used by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan due to the Hindu-Urdu Controversy in 1867.Then in 1938/39 it was again given by Veer Savarkar at Hindu mahasabha. He was a member of RSS and wanted separate nation's for Muslims and hindus. It was a founding principle of the Pakistan Movement, and the partition of India in 1947. The ideology that religion is the main factor in defining the nationality of Indian Muslims was used by Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He called it 'the awakening of Muslims for the creation of Pakistan'.[3] It is also a source of inspiration to several Hindu nationalistorganizations.[4][5]

Not really Iqbal was a confused soul but a great poet and thinker nonetheless, Jinnah had charisma and was well aware of how British laws worked and used their own laws to fight for all of our rights. When it comes to politics Iqbal was inexperienced and his opinions seem to stem from emotions unlike Jinnah who was a shrewd politician and knew how to get what he wanted. So Qaid is the father of Pakistan and can be compared to Ataturk, both fought battles to save their people, one on the battlefield and the other in the courts.

Dreamed up the name 'PAKSTAN' while living in Cambridge, Britain in 1933. Died and buried in Britain.

The term two-nation theory
I am well aware of who he was. But this is politically motivated and corrupted history by people with a agenda. SS was so far back, so distant and so diffuse on the events of 1940s. Like I said if that is the case why not give Sir Charles Napier credit for 2NT?

In case you don't know it was Napier who invaded and conquered Sind in 1843. Had he not done that 2NT would not have gone far. Karachi would have been capital of a independent Sindhi speaking Emirate like UAE.

iqbal was confused or are you ? he studied and worked in uk and germany.. he knew them like back of their hand. he was never a poet. He himself said that he had no inclination towards poetry. he simply wrote his thoughts. can you imgine what if he woud have had any interest in the poetry ?
But i discredit jnnah because he left pakistan and was living his life in the uks. Iqbal lost his business becaue his actively took part in elections JUST to bring muslims on one platform. There is much more which you dont know.. you only hear last few years of pakistan movement where its all jinnah jinnah .
i cant be bothered to type more .. read "zinda rood" by Justice Javaid Iqbal merhoom.. kafi afaka hoga confusion say..

IMHO, Quaid's legacy is bigger than these two leaders. He was successful in creating an Islamic state from the clutches of Hindu and British dominance. what is Indus nationalism?

Same can be said about Murtad Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani. He was confused, ignorant and one of the stupidest person ever lived.
