You're overstating the importance of India to the world economy.

for all we know, china might be doing worse than somalia

Marc Faber: Chinese Government Statistics Are Fake | ValueWalk

Chinese government statistics are fake for the most part and if Chinese economy is slowing down there will be more money printing in China. the Chinese government economic figures are meaningless, because they are manipulating most of the economic data, which confirms that there is no economic growth in China this year in fact China’s production of steel, cement and electricity as well as the volume of its exports and car sales are stable or declining compared to last year, which is incompatible with the growth announced by the government he explained

China Is a Black Box of Misinformation - Bloomberg
GDP-ism has become the Chinese government’s strongest ideology, and as such might not be an accurate indicator of reality. In the political and economic matrix of China, rosy statistics are the strongest self-justification mechanism for authority.

Come to China and see for yourself, we get more tourists from around the world than India does.

And we all know that India is doing worse than Africa in terms of poverty and malnutrition.

India has more rich households than most European nations - Economic Times

That article is full of contradiction. It states that 3 million households in India are affluent, that is a far cry from what we have in EU where around 70 % of the households are middle class and upward. By middle class we are talking about a per capita of around 20k € upward while Indian middle class does not even earn 1/10 of it.

It also stated that 80 % of the affluents are still living in the west, which leaves 20 % for the rest. How is India's affluent households ever going to be bigger than Europe?

Most of Indian 'middle class' earns between Rs 1000-2000 - Times Of India

India's growth rate falls down to 5.3%, while its CPI rises by 10.215 %,India is on the way to stagflation!
Indian rupee has depreciated by 17% these days,to a country which imports much more than exports,
you know the depreciation means what。
the Indian trade deficit increased by 153%,foreign exchange reserves decreased by 5.2%,Indian government raised the oil product prices although the global oil prices are falling down, hope India can find some feasible way before running out of your reserves.
Fiscal deficit+Trade deficit+Stagflation+Operational reserves less than 20 billion dollars,Indian economy is doomed!

I really like how empathetic my neighbors are considering my nations economic condition. There is no such thing as a "Growth story".
There is no story in it, no plot or narrator who decides what to do. India simply grows time and again, no matter what.. and until now India was just warming up. If it makes some people sleep better to think that the Indian economy is about to crash or perform badly, then so be it. Think like that and sleep better, while we work diligently towards progress without caring for what others think of us.

firs of all not most of india earns 1000 - 2000 rs. here pays are higher. even a begger make more than that. a average teacher pay is 20000 rs. a sargents in army make 20000, a colonel in army about 35000 - 40000. these people are middle class.

one of my relative live in germany. he says in germany government is rich but people are poor. he buys almost everything from india from branded jeans to shoes everything and take to germany. his family lives in india while he goes germany for 7 - 8 months. he says if it wast for his business he would have never gone to germany. a levis jeans is around 70 euros there whereas in india it could be 20 euros. cost of living in germany is 20 times that of india.

and by the way despite economic slowdown we still going to have double digit salary hike in 2012. india actually is a great countries greater than so called many rich nations

we never compare ourselves to pakistan unless u fanboys force our hand. a pakistani author put it aptly:

Pakistan vs India: the widening gap – The Express Tribune

really? you don't compare yourself to Pakistan?
That's all you do, there are 3 threads open about you people beating us in some sports match.
It is the height of delusion to say that you don't compare yourself to us.

And fanboy? how is asking legitimate questions and pointing out reality make us fanboys?

Once again, why do you people respond to serious questions with "well at least our economy is doing slightly better then a country that is 6x smaller then us and is fighting a war" ??

What's the %-tage of people working as a teacher, seargent or colonel in India? Are the salaries you gave monthly pay or yearly? A teacher in Germany with three years of experience earns 2500 €/month after tax. A colonel around 3500 €/month.

I'm not interested what your relative tells, otherwise I have plenty of anecdotes from friends about India as well. Since he is not happy about life here in Germany, nobody is forcing him to stay.
