What's new

Is south Korea the second largest pop culture exporter

Gotta admit tho, the Korean male actors dress great. I'm feeling their style, lol.
Mutual feelings there, they do dress great, great fashion sense but they have a tendency (maybe its just me) of dressing up like a girl, as in clothes made for girls :what: haha... The girls are top notch though ;)

the second reason is the censorship. Censorship in China is very ridiculous. There are a lot of limitations on drama, like no ghost/monster in modern era, no time travel and change of the history, blabla. But the censorship is mostly on TV. So many Internet companies begin to invest on dramas which can escape the censorship. But still not so relaxed as in Korea and Japan.

Censorship definitely. If its considered 'critical' of government, expect it to be pulled out, an expect an internal audit.

Truth.

Here's one American actor (Half Japanese, half Swedish) named Cary Fukunaga. Interesting mixture, definitely has the facial features of the Nordic beauty.... ;)

The eyes, that's the defining feature. Scandinavian guys have soft eyes, small ones too. His beard game seems wack too:lol:. There are some bad patches.

He seems to be an oddity though, I'm not finding too many pics of Swedish-Japanese peoples:(. Oh well, 15 years until my daughter starts dating. I know what direction I'm pushing her in:D.

See what parenthood doing to me:angry:. I'm losing my naughtiness. Instead of hot chicks, my thoughts are on my little one.

*sigh*

:bunny:

Ah, the natural progression of husbandhood to fatherhood.... so cute. :)

To be honest, i'm seeing a lot of Japanese-Western mixes / hybrids. They look really good. LOL.

If i every marry a Portugeuse (Iberian chic), i suppose my child would like Brazilian model Thomas Iwasaki (half Japanese, half Portugeuese-Brazilian):

What about x-rated stuff after hours? Is it regulated too or they don't show those stuff completely. Just curious..

As a normal people, I find Korean culture things not interesting at all, all my male friends don't give a fk to Korean pop, only females buy it. I mean, the Korean songs, only people from the bottom of society listen to them, the Korean dramas are even worse, totally BS. But I'd like to say, the Korean variety shows are the best, China imports and buys all the Korean shows, many people, men and women watch it. Korean movies are not bad too. As for TV dramas, Korean sucks, in Asia, Japanese TV drama is good. Also, the pop culture thing is more than some songs or movies, it's a social phenomenon, deep in people's mind, Japan leads the Pop culture in Asia for a long time.

Generally, in ordinary Chinese mind, Korea is and will always be under the level of Japan, I mean, everything. Chinese hate Japanese, but Chinese are reasonable, we discover and learn their merits, but for Koreans, we have nothing to learn from them.

but sorry, market speaks. Kpop is popular all over the world and they are making big money. Jpop is a niche market and only a few enjoy it.

By single one singer please, there are far more J-pop songs copied by Chinese singers than Koreans ones. I doubt there is anyone who can matchup with Nakajima in this regard. Taiwanese singer 李翊君 even made one of her album "Rebirth" only composed of Nakajima's songs.

And take it from me, I have been listening to Koreans songs even before there was the term K-pop. Their range of songs are very limited, in few areas such as techno and hip hop theirs are better than Japanese, but overall their lack talents such as Yoshiki from X-Japan(and trust me that a lot of Koreans are funs of them) and Tetsuya Komuro from Globe. Most of Japanese bands they produce their own music, where as in Korea most of them are produced by someone else. No doubt that there are some talented producers in Korean, however the preformers aren't, so as you can see in Korea, those so call stars they got replaced very fast by their agencies or producers.

There's a segment in Japan that likes CPOP. Singers like Coco Lee, Jackie Cheung, Alex To et al --- they're still popular in Japan.

One song that is commonly sung in Yokohama karaoke bars:
