Is Sheikh Hasina turning Bangladesh into a one-party state?

East PK had 23% more population than West PK. And still vastly more spending on west PK by the government.

The only reason East PK even had the relatively barely same or below total GDP of west PK even with more than double or triple spending in west is because of so much more population in East. Per capita BD was suffering and had way less spending per capita by the government than the already abysmally low overall amount. More population yet less than half or 1/3rd spending meant per capita BD got nothing!

.
Tiny and marginal transfer, probably less than 1% of GDP a year....and that too not accounting for what E. Pakistan got institutionally long term.

Simply braying this like the 3 million hoax won't get you far....because the actual budget figures of Pakistan show actual evidence on the matter.

That is why independent BD per capita is growing twice the rate of Pakistan now.

Making posts since we are butt-hurt at BD will not stop BD's progress.

All the jute mills (Adamjee, Bawany, Karim jute mills) were established by Pakistanis, mostly private investment.

(Adamjee Jute Mills was set up by Abdul Wahid Adamjee, Pakistan's foremost industrialist, and scion of the wealthiest family in the country.)

Similarly all the industries were set by west Pakistanis mostly. So the profits were transferred to west Pakistan.

The question is why would 'investor side' (PK) have lower GDP then the 'investment side' (BD) regardless of population size.

So government spending was done by the private companies? Is that what you are saying? If we both had similar GDP, why is government spending in east either less than half or 1/3rd of west PK?

It is important to see the details of the breakdowns of the expenditures to see where the money were spent.

For example, as a one nation, spending on Army on their side were bigger for obvious reason. Considering the other priorities, the budget might have set differently.

And 40% is 10% less, which not big IMO.

But it was a legitimate demand to have two central banks.

OH MY GOD! YOU CAN"T BE SERIOUS!
It's spending in East as percentage of West not spending in east as percentage of total budget.

So it's 60% less not 10% as it should be 100% as compared to west with similar GDP.

@Skies I get it, you have a thing for Pakistan. I don't hate Pakistan either and want BD to have good relationship with them but past is past. Past shouldn't affect current relation or our attitude towards them. Median age of Pakistanis is 25 years so most of their people weren't even born in that era. It would be ridiculous to hate them for that. But you can't simply sugar-coat the past. Past shouldn't decide future but what happened, happened. Not sure why you are defending those monsters that did what they did to BD while it was east PK.

The people you are terming as simply west Pakistanis were not from west Pakistan. They were all Indian Muhajirs, whose families had prior experience with industries before 1947. After 1947 they chose east Pakistan and built industries with their own money and loans from the Banks. It is certainly not the case that they immediately built tens of factories. No, they built one factory in the beginning and then built the next ones one by one with the support of Banks, government as well as their own experience.

Man where were you when I needed help with this lot hah. You were taking break from these BAL twerps I suppose :P

Yep, already a few are jumping up and down for you now for saying this posting budget figures with no context to GDP (and the tiny extraction footprint of even pre-LDC environment):

It is a new religion for them, do not bother too much trying to convince otherwise. Just do your bit to help the neutral, malleable BD minds....so they can finally move on from this silly complex.

BBS is good at laundering inflation as nominal GDP compared to Pakistan:

Part of the reason Pakistan has much higher PPP multiplier AND actually makes the Economist weekly indicator appendix.

Same "The Economist" who wrote an article last year praising BD for it's strong economic growth and passing Pakistan in nominal GDP per capita.

It is telling that a country like Pakistan that fully took advantage for 24 years to extract huge resources from BD, has just been surpassed by it in per capita and is being outgrown by a factor of 2 in gdp per capita.

Please tag more butt-hurt Pakistanis to thank your reply. After-all that is the only thing you have in common with them - butt-hurt at BD.:D

And they also ranked Dhaka as the same as the worst warzones in the world for living.

Like I said, obviously Pakistani people care more about their govt not laundering inflation as growth. BD people are largely sheeple...clearly apparent by the continued 3 million hoax blabbing....not realizing how sheeple they are if thats true in first place. What an utter bunch of morons.

1. Dhaka infrastructure is the major reason for Economist low rank. Check out RSTP 2016-2035 that is in the works to sort this out.
2. Lol. BD is now including inflation to calculate GDP? Try harder bud.

RSTP 2016-2035 works are now only in the planning stage. Considering the past experience with project implementation, one can blindly assume that it will take 30 to 50 years to complete those projects even of Bd is serious. But, how long the GoB politicians want BD to be spoon-fed by the foreign money? Why the BD people cannot build anything important while the Indian engineering companies are building all the important projects since 1947. May be still poor, but India is progressing, but not BD.

The first metro line and the first elevated expressway as part of the plan is in construction and will be complete by next year.
The plan will be mainly financed and constructed with Japanese technology.
India has two big advantages over BD in that it is a much larger country and gained independence 24 years earlier than BD. BD needs to start gaining more experience in building infrastructure but India is not a good comparison.
