India amy be an American ally but it is also a Russian ally. For all the talk of India being a "puppet" for the US by certain members here this simply is not true. India is one of the only true non-aligned nations on earth and the GoI has a mortal fear of falling under the influence of any other power. If India is an ally of the US then what does that make it to Russia given India still buys more military gear from Russia than the US right now and is to spend $40-45 BN in the next 15 years on deals with Russia. India may buy more from the US it is as yet unclear but to say India is now leaning more to the US over Russia simply is not true.

A nation has no partners, it just has its interests. It can change its relationship as many times with as many countries as it suits.

And yes .... ham ne khudi ko itna buland kar liya hai ke tumhara dost mulk bhi ham se pooch raha hai ke hamari raza kya hai.

In today's world I think each and every country should stand out on its own be it Pakistan,India,Russia or the USA.Allies and all that are a story of the bygone era!! If we are to chose new 'allies', I would place my bet with Turkey.

Russia, we could boast trade and buy military hardware but not make them allies as long as India is pro-Russia. Even with China, we face certain limitations. Turkey should be No.1 priority for Pakistan.

This much is in common knowledge about India's alliance with US.

India had offered all operational assistance to the United States, including use of its facilities, in any operations launched in pursuit of the perpetrators of the 11 September attack. Importantly Indian intelligence officials provided the United States with needed information concerning the financing and training of Islamic extremist groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Indian government had also offered the United States the use of its territory for staging any military operations in Afghanistan.

On naval front India provided a frigate for escorting coalition shipping through the Straits of Malacca, made shipyards available for coalition ship repairs and opened ports for naval port calls. India offered the US its air bases, it provided the northern alliance with logistical support. The Indian Army opened a hospital in Tajikistan, in order to treat injured northern alliance soldiers. India also supposedly loaned Mi-17 helicopters to the Northern Alliance.

Ally and Master are two different things. I have no problem with US or Russia or anyone as an ally, on basis of mutual respect, but not as a master and servant.

As Last Hope said, our foreign policy should also try to incorporate Turkey and CAS aggressively.

Okies...tell me....1) How will U.S reach to A-stan by india?

2) There was BJP govt in that tenure and they were ready to sign even on CTBT under U.S pressure...but it dint happen..
