Is Pakistan's economic crisis worse than Indian crisis of 1991?

Very good post..

This post gives me some hope tbh..

I think India survived because after 1990, Indian politicians strove for country reserves, while our politicians worked really hard to fill their own pockets.

One honest government for 10 years, and we will also see prosperity..

Thought provoking post in OP.
Yes, that whole Twitter based chest thumping is embarrassing but still, on the whole, Pakistani media is far more open and less jingoistic than India's is.

As to comparing with India of 1991--not a fair comparison. A lot can be said about it but basically Pakistan's #1 problem has been, since 1947, a rivalry with a giant like India. It's an unwinnable war for Pakistan but now a stalemate looks more achievable--which is a victory of sort for Pakistan. Also, India, in 1947, was better placed to be a successful state and had more resources to secure itself from external threats. Pakistan wasn't and in fact Pakistan had to invest too much on it's defense at the expense of other development directions. And so, despite the 'Hindu Rate of Growth', India had, by 1991, made a solid manufacturing and educational foundation.

But Pakistan's wasn't and still isn't too bad. Pakistan has faced crises like current crisis before and I BELIEVE is going to come out fine. Keep peace on the borders. Keep terrorism on check. If so then we may see a repeat of the Ayub Khan's Golden Decade again.
Rivalry with India or any country only givea the impetus to move forward. Our problem from day1 has been corruption. It doesn't help that the previous sentence has become a cliche. India was always a giant so it could always survive and thrive even with mega corruption happening. This is true to this day. India has paced forward with corruption. Pakistan was too small to afford it.

10 years is still not enough of a time to completely recover. We are not realizing what it means to be in almost $100 billion in debt with only $9billion in your reserves.
